As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

No, abbott won't create any jobs, he's too busy helping his mates send jobs off shore to notice.
Am, have you earned a lovely nickname from apos yet? You could line up for welfare 3, their imagination seems limited to such uninspired boring labels.
The poster seems to be overlooking the fact that it was Labor who instigated the Geelong reforms. Labor based the NDIS head office there and encouraged the community to progress towards a more digital economy than the heavy industry of the past. The NBN would have been a huge enabler of such a move but, from what I've heard, Geelong has been dumped form the fibre rollout and is not yet on the node trial list. To create a digital industry they really need the best digital infrastructure and the old copper net won't be much help there.
Glee
Yes, I have a nickname for am3, it involves the word "kiwi" !
Re Geelong, I acknowledge that the reinvention of Geelong has been going on a while.
Well before Napthine (Liberal), well before Bracks (Labor) and also well before Rudd.
It's been a continual process and needs to be to continue. I place most of the credit on
the local council for being progressive.
NDIS was good. Agree NBN would be great. I just checked "The NBN is currently only available
at new real estate developments in Geelong." I know you can get NBN speeds in Geelong
because iinet provide a Coax cable.
A coax cable is not what the NBN was about. A coax cable doesn't have the same sort of capacity, quality or potential to operate in the same sort of price range as the proper NBN would have. Pockets of HFC cable are not the fibre infrastructure we need for the future.
As an aside, what exactly is it that you think gives you the right to apply derogatory names to other people?
Is it impossible for you to just look at people as people without applying your own brand of arrogance and calling other people names, like a smarmy school bully boy?

He was giving a speech to the troops without the troops being present, hence the no audience comment.

No, it's called being sensible.
I very much doubt that the ADF has clearance to take Civilians into THAT war zone on ADF aircraft, especialy since a number of aircraft, both military and civilian (747) have been shot down with missiles in the past and the ground they fly over isn't secure.

" I was reading the other day that their are less Children in detention now than when Rudd was PM."
Facts and figures to back up your claim please.
Would that have anything to do with the fact that less people have arrived here, therefore less children in detention centres?
No, some were released.
I'll have to find the article(s) again.
