Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

LOL where a photo was taken or not - Abbott is still a failure. Not worthy of the 'royal commission' investigation that followed.

Apologies of the following has already been posted today.

AWKWARD

Abbott
"I want to thank President al-Abadi for the work that he is doing. He has an extraordinarily difficult job," Mr Abbott added.

The official transcript of Mr Abbott's remarks in Baghdad was changed to correct his reference to Dr al-Abadi as "President" rather than his correct title of "Prime Minister".

Oddly enough, I just watched a news report on channel 9 strongly disputing that * safety* or * difficulty in moving people in or out* have anything to do with it

If it is unsafe for a few Australian media then it is unsafe for the PM of Australia, he shouldn't have went there either.

The Irqai news published that Abbott was due there in a few days. Aust media don't publish that info beforehand for security reasons.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Aps - a bit more about Aust aid to Iraqi.

Australia’s aid program seeks to meet the priorities set by the Government of Iraq. In 2011-12, Australian aid to Iraq totalled 29.6 million and was delivered in partnership with the UN, NGOs, and other Australian institutions.

No mention of 2012-13 ot 2013-2014.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

and righters, don't bother with the "oh but health care is unsustainable blah blah" because that line of spin has been proven to be another lie.

From the AMA

https://ama.com.au/article/medicare-funding-cuts-support-materials-practices

2014 was a turbulent year for the future of Medicare.  The Government has pursued an agenda of fiscal policy – not health policy – to strip $3.5 billion out of Medicare and shift these costs on to patients.

The AMA’s strong and sustained advocacy resulted in a number of concessions by the Government. [click here to read more about the original Government proposals and AMA advocacy]

Instead, the Government will:

General practice will be hardest hit, with the first change already set in law that will start on 19 January 2015.  The AMA has developed material to assist general practices to implement the changes to the Medicare Level A and Level B consultation items.

Am

The aid to Iraq was down to zero in those years or at least one of them.
I think I indicated that in an earlier post.

Abbott - Remarks at BBQ Lunch with ADF personnel

"It is a real honour for me to be here at this time.

I am incredibly proud of you and your work.

I think every Australian is proud of you and your work."

What a hypocrite. Tried to take an extra days leave off Armed forces personnel over the Ch/New year period.. Awarded for hard work.
Won't give them a pay rise.

"Jacqui Lambie criticised Mr Abbott for making his trip to Baghdad, when he won’t offer troops a pay rise.
It’s clearly a trip designed to boost his political ratings, rather than our troops’ morale,” she said.

The Independent Senator, who has refused to back any government legislation until an effective pay cut for ADF personnel — the 1.5 per cent being offered is below the rate of inflation — is reversed, urged Mr Abbott to pull troops out.

“Then grant all members of the ADF a fair pay rise (which at least keeps track with inflation) by using the money saved on a now futile military contribution.”

Perhaps spend less money on MP's $1100 meals, hiring koalas, and subsidising yoga classes for public service agency staff?

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Yes, you did say they got 0. So I looked to see if they did get any.

Abbott didn't give Iraq any aid in 2013-2014.?
