Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I didn't report you, the moderator message was a surprise to me when it came through and I didnt think you had reported it.

I also couldn't think what he had deleted as none of it was OTT.

Hell, you lot are very thin skinned, nothing on here is that bad.

I said someone reports. I didn't say you report.

It's not the so called "you lot" that is reporting others.

It's like a G rated forum for over 18s these days.  Quite strange.

And don't forget eBay is a very left leaning organisation.

Don't want to harm or offend anyone now LOL

Your G rated description is a good one, an apt description.

Gillard had review and changed some of the criteria then abbott came along and relaxed the rules again, from what I recall.

There are members of both houses who wish to reduce the numbers.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Gillard changed the criteria so that after 2 years working for the same employer (sponsor) they could apply for a permanent visa.
Surprised at that.

2014 was a turbulent year for the future of Medicare.  The Government has pursued an agenda of fiscal policy โ€“ not health policy โ€“ to strip $3.5 billion out of Medicare and shift these costs on to patients.

The AMAโ€™s strong and sustained advocacy resulted in a number of concessions by the Government. [click here to read more about the original Government proposals and AMA advocacy]

Instead, the Government will:

General practice will be hardest hit, with the first change already set in law that will start on 19 January 2015.  The AMA has developed material to assist general practices to implement the changes to the Medicare Level A and Level B consultation items.
