Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Yes, and I said why I said it,

I have yet to see evidence to refute that.

Then others can see no evidence to agree with it.

POOR FORM

You will not be treated differently: Refugees told on Manus

Refugees who will soon leave detention on Manus Island to temporarily live on the outskirts of the island's only town have been told they will have to find jobs elsewhere in Papua New Guinea, leaving them in fear for their lives.

In a blunt speech by Papua New Guinean immigration authorities, the refugees have been told to make PNG their home, "or leave". They also been told they will be treated no differently to PNG locals, who are unable to access "free internet" and are not given any form of "public welfare" from the government.

"When you have learnt PNG languages and thoroughly understand PNG culture, you will be permitted to leave the Refugee Transit Centre and start work โ€“ but not on Manus Province," the speech delivered by the country's Immigration and Citizenship Authority stipulates. "We will help you find a suitable job and to relocate to wherever that job is."

The refugees will also be given mobile phones and will be able to buy credit from their weekly allowance.

"You'll be given food to cook for yourself and a weekly allowance of K100 ($47.50). This is more than Papua New Guineans receive from their government," the speech says.

"... Your choices are simple: make Papua New Guinea your home, or leave."

Last year a Senate committee report made six recommendations as a result of the Manus riots, calling on the Abbott government to take responsibility for the attack, adhere to international human rights standards and help administer an effective investigation into the murder of Reza Barati by the Papua New Guinea police.

I have seen the evidence that dispells your claim, googling CEO's past and current is probably the best clue  and walmart

these days most big companies donate to all political parties, I didn't bother checking what was posted here, but I assume that is the case

Not a big deal but you are haven't 'let go'. Same as other day (s). Your words belie your actions.

SBS (satire)

Tony Abbott Requests Press Not Report On Anything He Does.

Following the success of his Iraq trip, Prime Minister Tony Abbott has announced that he would prefer it if the press no longer reported on anything he was doing.

โ€œItโ€™s just really convenient,โ€ explained the Prime Minister in what he claimed would be his final press conference. โ€œYou see, whatโ€™s been happening lately is that I do something and then the press reports on it and everyone gets really mad at me. It just seems like if there was no reporting then everything would be much easier.

โ€œLook at Operation Sovereign Borders. We refused to let the press in on what was happening there and the hideous things we were able to get away with there, ah, I would laugh if I could ever stop screaming.โ€

He went on to deny that the lack of independent press coverage removed transparency and accountability.

โ€œThe world is confusing enough already. Every day we get these conflicting reports of what I say has happened and what the people who were there watching say has happened. Who can keep up? Itโ€™s just easier for me to tell you whatโ€™s going on and for you to shut up and believe me."

"Asking questions is for game show hosts and The Riddler.โ€

Abbott admitted he believed he performed much better without having the press monitoring every single one of his decisions.

โ€œItโ€™s just a lot of pressure,โ€ said Mr. Abbott. โ€œHaving all those people watching you makes it hard to work. Itโ€™s like when youโ€™re trying to use a urinal in a public restroom. Actually, now that I think about it, a lot of what Iโ€™m doing is like **bleep** up a wall.โ€

The Prime Minister refused to answer any follow up questions instead choosing to tut at the report and repeatedly say โ€œsee, youโ€™re doing it again.โ€

โ€œI want to be Schrodingerโ€™s Prime Minister. If no one can see what Iโ€™m doing maybe Iโ€™m doing a great job. Maybe Iโ€™m killing cats. Who knows?

โ€œAnyway, I best get back to being Prime Minister. If you want to find out how diplomatic relations are going with other nations or anything of the sort Iโ€™ll be doing a Reddit AMA in a few weeks. Just to give you a taste of some of the questions Iโ€™ll be answering, I would rather fight the horse sized duck then the duck sized horses and yes weโ€™re at war with Indonesia now. Sorry about that.โ€
