As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Apparently young people can enrol up to the day before but they won't be on the printed roll so will have to make declaration vote.

The Abbott government has splashed more than $8 million of taxpayer money on a media blitz promoting its stalled higher education reforms.
Fairfax Media can reveal the government has spent $5.4 million on media bookings for the campaign, which has infuriated key Senate crossbenchers.
This comes on top of $2.3 million spent on the design of the advertisements and $560,000 on focus groups and market research.
more waste- they justify it by blaming Labor, saying labor spent more on gonski

Profit-making colleges would receive taxpayer funding to teach students unproven alternative remedies such as homeopathy, flower essence therapy and iridology under the Abbott government's proposed higher education reforms.
The move comes as the government considers stripping the private health insurance rebate from any policies covering natural therapies not supported by evidence.
As well as deregulating university fees and cutting university funding, the government's higher education reforms would extend funding to private colleges, TAFEs and sub-bachelor degree programs at a cost of $820 million over three years
what are they doing that for??

A Liberal National party official has rallied supporters for the Queensland election by accusing Labor rivals of “dirty tricks” in past campaigns including the criminal offence of impersonating police officers.
The LNP state director, Brad Henderson, in an email calling for volunteers said Labor in recent elections had “tried every dirty trick in the book ... including enlisting the unions to dress people up as firemen, nurses and policemen”.
However, a spokesman for Queensland police, as well as senior police sources, said they were not aware of any such incidents involving the misuse – or even use – of police uniforms in political campaigns.
this is kind of funny
considering the signage theft and a backbencher who doesn't pay fines and drives without a licence

Oh, but it makes a perfect sense; the money goes to the colleges, and the people who do the courses will remain as unemployable as they were before.

hmmm...
I read yesterday that 30% of young voters had not registered in Qld. Is it too late or do they still have time to do it?
