Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

This is a sneaky to 'pretend' the cuts aren't as severe as they really are, they are going to reduce the medicare benefit further in July.

"The change comes alongside a $5 cut to all Medicare rebates for GP consultations that will apply to non-concessional patients from July 1 2015. This means people without a concession who see a GP for less than 10 minutes from July, will receive a rebate of $11.95."

How much does a GP charge for a consultation $65+? Patient gets $11.95 back from Medicare.

I read yesterday, one of the larger bulk bill clinics here are going to charge $2 entry to their car park. The disabled access to the building is via the car park.
If a patient needs to de dropped off at the car park disabled entrance by a family member, taxi, or picked up by an ambulance $2 must be paid to lift the boom gate so they can enter.

Internet speeds: Australia ranks 44th, study cites direction of NBN as part of problem

A US study has delivered an unwelcome finding about Australian internet speeds, finding that they are well behind the international pack.

One engineering expert said the nation would continue to tumble down in world rankings if the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) continues in its current form.

Discreet regulation changes bring in co-payment by stealth

Your parents will pay more for healthcare. Or they will put off going to the doctor (and we know how hard it is to get your dad to go already).

The federal government is continuing to attack access to affordable healthcare in this country.

Last year, when the LNP tried to impose a $7 co-payment, Australians rose up. They wrote to their local members, they went on talkback, they tweeted and they Facebooked.

The co-payment died. Now the government is trying to reintroduce it by stealth.
