As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

What jobs and in what location did ALL the workers who got made redundant due to their previous employer closing down move on to? Everyone of them got a new job? How do you know that?

aps you have no idea what you are talking about.. my personal circumstances have nothing to do with this thread and what you post in your personal comments to others is just made up by you anway.
Especially annoyed with you bringing a daughter into this conversation. Your comments are 100% made up by you and are 100% inaccurate.

Of the one's I know of.
Some got jobs in the area - Geelong
Some got jobs in the mines. I know one in Gippsland who now owns 3 houses in 10 years and can live off the income.
I know one ex Gov't emplyee that went contract then when that finished, he retired at 54 or so. He owns 7 or 8 houses
and lives off the income from those (all but one or two are paid off).
I have met quite a few in NT who moved up to very well paid jobs, first the mines, now the Gas project in Darwin.
They can't get enough workers up there in some areas, ESPECIALLY the trades.
I don't know of any that haven't got another job but I am sure there are a few.
The Airline people (ex Qantas) are readily employable in multi $100,000 jobs if they opt to take them where the work is.
I know heaps of ex Military tech trades that earn big $$$ for a few years overseas and then retire early.
Why are you focusing on everyone ? The market changes, industries expand and contract, that's life.
You chose to live where you live, don't **bleep** and moan if you chose to live in an area that isn't growing.
Move to somewhere that is growing.

I am so sorry you haven't had to harden up. Nothing in life is secure, guaranteed. You suck it up and move on to whereever life takes you.
I really can't believe this BS. People lose jobs all the time. And their "owed"?????
This is NOT the real world. Never has been, never will be.

Rubbish
You brought your daughter into it when you said about her getting a job when she enters the work force.
You complain about not ever being able to get a job that pays enough to get over the threshold yet you complain
the gov't has a budget deficit.
I wonder why ?
I know a couple who went to Uni down your way, all have got jobs, some in NSW, some in Qld.
They went where the well paying jobs are instead of expecting it local.

That is the way they think.
They are "owed", by everyone, especially the Gov't.
