As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

No, just the truth. None at all.

Because no Australian wanted the job in Wgong.
Would you rather foreigners moved here without securing a job first and went straight on the dole!
You can't have it both ways.

If no foreigners were employed in Australia we would have one doctor locally... instead of the 10 or more in 4 different medical centres.

Did you miss this I posted earlier today. It was in the fruit picking thread I think.
By your comments above, it shows you agree with the Unions and don't agree with what the Abbott Govt is doing.
Easy entry for skilled foreigners
Companies would be allowed to bring employees to Australia for up to a year without applying for 457 skilled worker visas under a migration-rule revamp being considered by the government.
The Department of Immigration and Border Protection is proposing a new temporary entry visa for foreign workers that would not require the candidates to pass language or skills requirements. Nor would employers have to prove they cannot find an Australian to fill the position.
The proposed โshort-term mobilityโ subclass of visas would be available for โspecialised work which may include intra-company transfers and foreign correspondentsโ, says a proposal paper obtained byThe Australian Financial Review.
Fly-in, fly-out commuters, global partners or specialists who need to ยญprovide short periods of work or consultation to a company would be ยญcovered. The visa would allow for multiple entries.
The paper is part of a review announced in October and billed by the Abbott government as the biggest re-examination of skilled migration in 25 years. The government wants to cut red tape and give companies more flexibility to grow and compete for talent. ยญ
---------------------------------->>>But the changes would upset unions, which are mostly hostile to foreign labour.

The Abbott Gov't is obviously giving the ACCC a bit more bite so it can tackle petrol prices.
Petrol prices and city versus country prices.

You want money spent on jobs, and what does LABOR IN QLD propose ?
"
Ms Palaszczuk spent the morning at Green Island, where she revealed Labor would spend $100 million over five years on protecting the Great Barrier Reef.
The policy involves spending an additional $20 million each year on โwater quality and environmental sustainability programsโ.
Meanwhile, Labor has committed to cutting nitrogen run-off by 80 per cent in key catchments by 2025 and reducing the total suspended sediment run-off by 50 per cent by 2025.
Labor is yet to detail how this would be achieved, but the announcement includes the creation of a โhigh-level taskforceโ - made up of representatives from local government, conservation groups, tourism operators, scientists and others - to determine how to meet the targets."
A $100 million that could be better spent on jobs.
$20 million on water quality ?
A โhigh-level taskforceโ - sounds very much like "Jobs for the boys" but never actually achieving much.
