As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Go and get some new material. The repeats are rather boring.
I agree.
Verity Barton is a current standing member for the QLD LNP party, committed these offences as an LNP MP.... news articles about her are CURRENT news.
The QLD upcoming election is CURRENT news.
Why should we be limited to one post about her? No reason at all.

Will a lycra wearing PM on a bicycle be protected from a disenchanted citizen with a gun? If not, what is the point of driving around in a $525 000 bullet proof car, for only part of the day?

Al-Raqqah is an ISIS stronghold and headquarters of its operations and they don’t e-mail radicalised Aussies Qantas E tickets to al-Raqqah and return. And if the radicalised Aussies do return from the now forbidden city, Julie Bishop, Tony Abbott and ASIO will be the last to know about it.
The Australian based arm of the Hizb ut-Tahrir terror group is now openly advising multiple Muslim passport holders to get to Syria via the Maldives. Tony Abbott has responded by lashing out at Hizb ut-Tahrir, calling them very naughty boys and branding their actions as “un-Australian” and “un-Islamic”.
Good gracious me Tony, that’s a bit harsh!
Apart from the ability to go anywhere in the EU without flashing a passport, you can get to Turkey, Lebanon, Cyprus, Jordan or even Israel before hiring a car, catching a cab, or jumping a boat, train, bus, horse or motor bike and return the same way.
Does Julie Bishop think we are dealing with complete idiots or the most sophisticated terror group yet to emerge?

Queensland Premier Campbell Newman has confirmed demoted frontbencher David Gibson did not disclose his 10-year record of traffic offences when he agreed to be minister for police.
Mr Gibson lost his portfolio on Monday night after advising Mr Newman he was allegedly caught speeding on February 16 while his licence was suspended.
Mr Newman said today Mr Gibson also used the opportunity to tell him of past driving infringements.
‘‘Mr Gibson did reveal details of his previous driving record,’’ he told reporters in Cairns.
‘‘I’m not aware of [previous suspensions], I’m aware though from seeing his driving record over the past 10 years that he had a number of speeding infringements.

Quality frontbenchers - NOT!
What do we have laws in this country for? If a Minister of Police disregards them! Why should his police force bother to enforce them!

They do appear to have a "problem"
A Catholic, Finnigan is a member of the ALP's right-wing (Labor Unity) faction. Finnigan was appointed to the upper house of South Australia's parliament as the Labor Party's choice in 2006. He was given the boot the day after he was charged with four child pornography offences and sits as an "independent"
Finnigan is now charged with one count of obtaining access to child pornography, and one count of attempting to access child pornography.
He will stand trial in April 2015.

2006!
No one condones child pornography. Trying to score political points with posts like that is offensive.

MARK COLVIN: Yesterday it was a New South Wales cabinet minister forced to resign for looking at pornography on New South Wales parliamentary computers; today the man in the spotlight was the Christian Democrats MP Fred Nile.
Reports said that the computer of Fred Nile, a man who's made his career campaigning against the sex industry, had been used a remarkablle number of times to click on inappropriate content.
Mr Nile says he has never viewed pornography but that he instructed his staff to research adult content on the internet to help in his fight to ban it.
http://www.abc.net.au/pm/content/2010/s2999939.htm
The audit, which claimed the front-bench career of a Labor minister yesterday, showed that adult content had been accessed under the Reverend Fred Nile's log-on.
Sources said that up to 200,000 suspect hits had been recorded.
