Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

No, creating ' what if' scenarios to justify a poor judgement call by Abbott.. is sounding more than a little bit desperate. A lone voice in the darkness.

There is a reason why Knight and Dame honours were abolished in 1968 and stayed that way until 2014 ...rofl

IF I was an Abbott supporter I would be keeping quiet on that issue and distancing myself as far as possible from it.

A comeback with personal digs in it doesn't work either.

Discussions, Debates, trying to win an argument

Donโ€™t:
Get personal. Direct attacks on your opponentโ€™s lifestyle, integrity or honesty should be avoided. Attack the issue not the person.

You seemed to be very vocal yet a Labor PM did exactly the same thing, gave him the highest honor.
That is NOT a what if, it is FACT.

BTW, 1986.

And so what if Hawke got rid of them, Abbott brought them back. He was elected as PM so he can do what he likes,
just like Bob got rid of them. I remember when he did.

You just don't want to know.

Your sole aim is to bring down Abbott and stuff the country in the process by encouraging the Senate to hold up laws
that can help the country, INCLUDING generating jobs near you, something you want.

Typical lefty clap trap and cutting the nose of to spite the face.

BTW - Personal ? You were happy to bring up my voting, which BTW was a trap I set for you and you fell for it hook, line and sinker.
So yes, I will now bring up what you have posted previously. Don't have one rule for you and one for everyone else.

Who knows what traps you have fallen intoWoman Wink

Another one of Abbotts 'besties who is also a prominnent journalist at The Australian who has joined the chorus of criticism re "Knightmare".

Prime Minister Tony Abbott  close personal friend, The Australian newspaper's Greg Sheridan.

In 2012, Sheridan wrote that Mr Abbott was "my best friend at that time. We talked over everything. The meaning of life, the purpose of politics, who'd win the rugby league grand final, what girls we planned to ask out, petty squabbles we might have had with our parents".

Despite the pair being close, earlier this week Sheridan joined a chorus of criticism of the Prime Minister's "dismaying" decision to knight Prince Philip.

"It is wrong in principle, strategically mistaken and tactically disastrous," he wrote.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Tony Abbott singlehandedly is the author of his own misfortune.

Especially of the Knightmare.. did Peta make him do it? No.. did he get the advice of other Liberal MP's - No, did he copy Labor by giving a Duke in England a KNIGHTHOOD - No, ....  he made the 'dismaying' decision all by himself.

He has also owned up to the folly in making a decision like that without consultation with cabinet. That admission is too late for some, as he has already made too many 'captain picks' that his party don't agree with.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

There's another (State) by-election in SA tomorrow - not as important as the QLD one, but it will be interesting after the recent Fisher by-election (won by Labor and giving them a majority in the lower House).

It's a safe LNP seat - the 2PP at the 2014 election was 58%LNP/42%ALP

The Fisher result showed there was a definite leakage from Federal issues into the State arena, and after a few more months of ineptitude by Abbott & Co. culminating in the Prince Philip fiasco we may see this trend continue.

If LNP doesn't win well, then the lame duck Leader of the Opposition (what's his name again ???) will be kaput.
