Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Politicians are mostly self-serving parasites-on BOTH sides of the fence.

N.B. I support Labor because they got rid of WORKCHOICES.....and would not allow it back in under their leadership....workchoices is/was evil for workers....which 99.9% of us are afterall.

On the whole I loathe who they are, what they say and do/don't do and the way they LIE< LIE< LIE!....and how they are exempt from being held accountable for their actions and/or words.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

here's an interesting article on telstra's fears re: metadata retention

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-01-30/telstra-warns-metadata-scheme-will-attract-hackers/6056326

Metadata retention scheme: Telstra warns data storage plan will attract hackers

The nation's biggest telecommunications company has sounded a warning about the Government's mandatory metadata retention scheme.

Telstra said an unintended consequence of the plan would be the creation of many highly attractive targets for hackers.

I wonder what would happen to the TLS share price if that were to happen?

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Dirty Supreme Court Action

We need your urgent help.

The LNP in Queensland has just lodged a Supreme Court injunction to try and silence our voices on election day.

Right now, over 500 GetUp volunteers are out at polling booths across the state, handing out How-to-vote cards telling Queenslanders how they can vote to protect the Great Barrier Reef by putting the LNP last on their ballot paper.

The LNP don't like it, and an injunction would mean that we'd be forced to stop. We need to fight against this move and fast.

If the case doesn't go ahead or we raise more than we need, we'll offer you a full refund. If you don't want a refund we'll put that money straight into the Reef Legal Fighting Fund.

ref

GOT A WA FED SENATOR TO CHANGE THE LIMITS so that anyone owed up to $20,000 wages does not have to go thru an industrial court of law to fight for their pay.....in industrial matters both parties have to pay their own legal costs and the winner does not get reimbursed (sucks hey?!.....not fair for workers and unfair that bosses were getting away with this under govt legislation).
