As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Peta will go and that will alleviate the tension but he will stay PM.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s supporters believe he must sacrifice his controversial chief of staff, Peta Credlin, or risk losing his leadership to Malcolm Turnbull, possibly as early as next week.
Amid fears that more breakaway MPs are planning to go public over the weekend to try to generate momentum for a spill, those wanting more time for Mr Abbott say he must dump Ms Credlin, the long-time head of his office.

It's not Credlin's fault abbott's a dud.
The Nats are saying if the Libs change leaders they want a new deal too. Not sure what that's supposed to achieve. Perhaps it's a sort of ultimatum against change.
No , he wouldn't cope at all without being propped up by her. So it would still be the end for him if she was dumped.

Must be a case of self loathing.

This discussion is worth listening to. One panellist says that Abbott is so psychological dependent on Credlin that he would not cope if she was dumped.

Someone mentioned getting rid ogf negative gearing.
the Keating government admitted that withdrawing negative gearing brought about some very negative unintended consequences
to the housing market.
Not good for poor people.

I can believe that. If Abbott thought he could dump Peta and carry on being PM then he would.... that he won't do that, points to him not being able to function as PM without her imo.

Joe Hockey has been allowed out.
Today he is readling a little story to children at a childcare centre - potential voters in a few years time he says!
Asked about details of the new 'family package'
Hockey replies that the government - after more than a year of thinking about things - is "engaging in a further round of consultation".
