Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

No deflecting from the chaos the Coaltion is in. Abbott is in serious trouble.

I know I am not allowed to mention under  the A3 rule, which states the political world was created 7-09-2013,  but  "oh the towering feeling"    of deja vu:

"Gillard *  portrayed Rudd's time as Prime Minister as "chaotic and dysfunctional"

"Gillard *  as been accused of running a chaotic government plagued by vendettas"

"Gillard *  portrayed Rudd as a "chaotic" manager and would-be celebrity who led a "paralysed" government."

Who am I to argue with the (ex) Circus ring leaders.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

What ? Visit a childcare centre week? Not even a new 'family package' to discuss

Wacky scenes in Adelaide

Julie Bishop is now a Perth person.

But she grew up in South Australia and went to school at St Peter's Girls' School in Adelaide.

Unsurprisingly, she was head girl there.

Today, she has returned to praise the early learning centre that has opened there.

Did you note what I posted last night about the article from The Australian which you said had incorrect data in it?

The article quoted corporate tax TAKE

not

corporate tax RATE.

So no errors in that article.

am3

You certainly worry about tax a lot for someone who takes rather than gives.

Why do people that earn more get up your nose so much ?

They pay what they legally have to pay.

Joe Hockey has been allowed out.

Today he is readling a little story to children at a childcare centre - potential voters in a few years time he says!

Asked about details of the new 'family package'

Hockey replies that the government - after more than a year of thinking about things - is "engaging in a further round of consultation"

FAIL

So Hockey can fail after a year of thinking.

WOW, can you imagine how big a FAIL the previous Gov't had since they sat on their hands

re the Tax Reform report for 5 YEARS, not 1 year, 5 YEARS.

FAIL, FAIL, FAIL, FAIL, FAIL

Are Rudd and Gillard still in office?

It's 2015 now. In late 2013 there was an election in which Gillard did not stand for re-election. Rudd resigned a short time later.

This thread is about the current government.   If you have columns or newspapers lining your halls you could perhaps go back a few piles and read about the last federal election to refresh your memory.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Get real, monman was querying a posted article about corporate tax rates in Australia, specifically how much higher they are or aren't compared with other OCED countries.

I think he made the mistake -- tax take not tax rate . I wouldn't expect The Australian to get that wrong, if they did, mm can contact them.

Australia is compared with OCED countries with smaller/medium economies.

Companies in Australia are concerned, as always, about too high corporate tax rates.

monman - here is a more complete list - of corporate tax rates

Estonia is the place to be for corporations and they have fast broadband too!

Majority of countries corporate tax rate below Australia's 30% .

Australia 30.0%

Austria 25.0%

Belgium 34.0%

Canada 26.3%

Chile 20.0%

Czech Republic 19.0%

Denmark 24.5%

 Estonia 21.0%

Finland 20.0%

France 34.4%

Germany 30.2%

Greece 26.0%

Hungary 19.0%

Iceland 20.0%

Ireland 12.5%

Israel 26.5%

Italy 27.5%

Japan 37.0%

Korea 24.2%
