As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

to vic ref:
....Stopped the boats, now less people and CHILDREN in centres than the previous Govt
And no deaths by drownings.
........................................................................................................................................................................
You cannot see pics in the newspapers nor on internet or tv but trust me, there are thousands upon thousands of people being 'pushed' away.......many are perishing.
You have no idea what the reality of the situation is.
Just because these twaddle-beat oar thumpers tell you that they have 'stopped the boawts!' do you really believe and think that the boat loads of refugees have stopped leaving from their different locales and declare "Oh no, let's stay here because Tony Abbott and Morrison have told Australian people that we don't exist'....???!!!...
Get real.

Coalition Too Busy Chasing Refugees To Pursue Illegal Fishing Boats
“The government has broken their pre-election commitment to send its $150 million ice-rated Customs vessel to protect our precious Southern Ocean environment from these tooth fish pirates,” Greens spokesperson for Fisheries, Senator Peter Whish-Wilson said.
“Instead they sent this boat, designed for the sub-Antarctic, off to the tropical waters around Christmas and Coco Islands, as part of Operation Sovereign Borders to detain people fleeing persecution to seek a safer life in Australia,” he said.
“Despite a recommendation from the tri-partisan Southern Ocean Senate Inquiry, and Customs promising two forty-day patrols this summer, there is no boat on the horizon,” he said.
It’s an attack which the government levelled at the ALP when it was last in office.
“The ACV Ocean Protector, which was previously responsible for patrolling the Southern Ocean, is instead intercepting illegal boat arrivals because of the Government’s failure to control Australia’s borders,” Michael Keenan, the shadow immigration and customs minister at the time, said in February 2013.
“Despite the prevalent threat of illegal fishing, including the Japanese whaling patrols and the highest number of Sea Shepherd vessels in the Southern Ocean, Customs has had to remove their patrol vessels because of significant budgetary and staff cuts by Labor,” Mr Keenan said.
Oh, how the tides have turned.

Well, the Customs vessel is / was required up North, isn't the ACV Ocean Protector the one the Sri Lankans were held on for a month ?
Well they should send the patrol boats down south and sink a couple of ships, Sea Shephard and
Rainbow Warrior II or whatever it is called would be a good start.
Or ask the French to do a re run
No, I don't know the EXACT number of Patrol Boats Australia has at the moment but a lot of them (more than half)
are "home ported" in Darwin.
It's not how many we have, it's how many are available deployable at any one time, taking into account repairs, servicing and crew rotations and what other activities (wars / police actions / exercises) where they are needed as well.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has called a special party room meeting for 9:00am AEDT on Monday to consider the spill motion.
Two West Australian MPs are planning to move a motion to spill the leadership positions of the Liberal party at the meeting.
The move comes after Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull praised Mr Abbott earlier this morning for keeping the meeting on Tuesday, saying it "showed great respect for the party".
"The virtue of having it on Tuesday ... [is] that members coming to Canberra who will have been getting lots of phone calls and talking to their constituents, many of which will be uncertain, will want to have the opportunity to sit down and talk to each other in the nation's capital in the course of that Monday leading up to the Tuesday," Mr Turnbull said.
"He's ... shown great respect for the party room by saying that the meeting will be on Tuesday which is the normal party room meeting."
so, an hour or so after Turnbull praisies Abbott for his fairness in keeping the meeting on Tuesday, abbott changes it to Monday

An American iron ore miner says Australia is "manipulating" its currency in a bid to save its iron ore exporters, who are so desperate for cash they are "putting even the kangaroos for sale".
In comments made on the same day the Reserve Bank of Australia cut interest rates to a historic low, Cliffs Natural Resources chief executive Lourenco Goncalves said Australia was making a "big mistake" by assuming low iron ore prices would force Chinese iron ore producers out of business, and that it would be the Australian and Brazilian producers who would be left "bleeding".
Cliffs operates iron ore and coal mines in North America but also has the fifth biggest iron ore export business in Australia.
They want to help BHP, they want to help Rio Tinto, they want to help that lady over there, Gina whatever.
"They are going to continue to help Fortescue Metals Group and they will believe that they will always crush Chinese producers. Big mistake, but it is what it is."
Australian iron ore miners sell their product in US dollars but have most of their costs in Australian dollars, and so have benefited from the slide in the Australian dollar over the past year.

Meanwhile, Senate leader Eric Abetz denied reports in the Sunday papers that he had been trying to broker a compromise in which Mr Abbott would stay on as leader if Mr Turnbull replaced Joe Hockey as Treasurer.
though it's been denied, could this be away for abbott to avoid the spill?
