As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

South Australia's Defence Industries Minister says Tony Abbott's jest that Australia's next fleet of submarines could built by Russia or North Korea left him "scratching his head".
I think pretty much the whole country are scratching their heads over that one
Hello!
That was one of the most bizarre little exchanges of the week when he said that yesterday.
He argued against the tender process on the grounds that if we allow an open tender that the Aussies can tender under the Russians and North Koreans would also be allowed to tender. It sounds to be all tied up in the free trade agreements. In return for exporting to Japan we agree to buy our submarine fleet from them.
Abbott still lives in the old days when Aussies were only good for the dud jobs and the Brits had to be imported for everything that mattered. I think it's about time he was woken up to the fact that those days are long gone. We are now educating ourselves and our young to manage our own country and don't need the permission of the Brits for anything anymore.

perhaps the Aus company will pass vital info onto Russia and Korea

Buying from Japan isn't as easy as it might seem. Permission from other countries is required for some of the technology.
And some other factors involved.
We are a long way off from even getting close to buying them.

i think we all know the deal is a sweetner for the free trade deal
why do we need so many subs and jets all of a sudden anyway? I thought we had to cut spending

If anyone is watching Q time today, they will observe that "good government starts today" means that Abbott now shouts every answer. Even those answers to dorothy dixes.
Whether that is his decision or that of his chief of staff, it is appalling.
