As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Mr Abbott is asked why unemployment has risen to the highest levels since August 2002 -which is when he was minister for employment.
Mr Abbott starts talking about the "Holocaust of jobs" lost under the previous Labor government but quickly withdraws and replaces it with the "decimation of jobs".

Whether that is his decision or that of his chief of staff, it is appalling.
And Mr Keating says Mr Abbotts voice is getting higher 😀

Retired Rear Admiral and former submarine commanding officer Peter Briggs said he had never heard of the term "competitive evaluation process".
Perhaps that is why he is retired, too much salt water on the brain.
treasury paper
'When undertaking a procurement, agencies need to conduct an appropriately competitive
process of a scale commensurate with the size and risk profile of the particular procurement.
How about this:
"The decision to purchase new aircraft raised two major questions: what to purchase and how much to pay. Initially, in June 2002. the (Australian) Government set up a competitive evaluation process to examine its options.
You will "love" this one (?????)
REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL FOR THE DISPOSAL OF: ROYAL AUSTRALIAN SHIPS AND EX-HMAS MANOORA
i.e. SINK THEM. Very much a submarine type activity !!!! Anyway, within the paperwork (2011) is this:
These following criteria (not in any order of importance) may be used to establish the disposal options open to the Commonwealth but will NOT be used to assess individual responses for subsequent RFT activity. This RFP is not subject to a competitive evaluation process.

Shows what a weak leader he is. Can't cope without PC telling him what to do, where to go, what to say.. no wonder there are ongoing complaints and dissention from others in the party about PC and the PMO.

Abbott and Dutton are in trouble because they might have prejudiced the trial of the two alleged terrorists.
They are dopes. The trial might never proceed.
Legal figures warn proceedings could be prejudiced as the prime minister refers to ‘monstrous fanaticism’ in video
On Thursday the president of the New South Wales bar association, Jane Needham SC, urged restraint in publicly commenting on the case, warning that the men may not receive a fair trial.
“The association has concerns about the degree of public comment in the media concerning the two terrorism suspects appearing today in bail proceedings. Such comments have the potential to undermine the proper administration of justice,” Needham said.
“Our courts should be allowed to deal with matters before them without public statements being made that could prejudice subsequent proceedings and we would urge caution in this regard.”
The Greens senator Penny Wright said: “Criminal proceedings are not a political event and the Australian Greens would be concerned to see any circumstances where a fair trial was not possible because of information revealed by the government or its agencies.”

Well yes. Polks. Isn't abbott supposed to have been a lawyer of some sort in the past.. Surely he should know better than to discuss details of a case before the court.
question is, will abbott now get a boost in the polls? I don't think so somehow, lol
I noticed they tried to make it all be labor's fault again too. The date the men came here

Australia's economy is in such a fragile condition the Abbott government ought to provide some fiscal stimulus in its May budget, the Australian Industry Group has warned.
In a call that puts them at odds with pro-austerity voices, the employers organisation has used its pre-budget submission – released on Thursday – to call on the Abbott government to provide that shot of stimulus via a series of tax cuts to boost business "confidence" and investment activity.
It has also released a new paper on the level of skills in Australia's workforce, saying the country desperately needs to develop a national strategy to boost the number of people in the workforce with skills in science, maths and engineering - or risk falling further behind other comparable countries.
what a shame we've just cut science
