As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I would guess that you have not read, or understand, the whole SMH C&P link A3 because within it there is this:
"Woolworths CEO Grant O'Brien also complained about the situation after disappointing half-yearly results, observing "stability is a really important thing" for consumer confidence."
That I consider is an attempt to divert criticism of his management of Woolies when you consider the WOW results just announced, which include the ill advised Masters hardware chain which is hemorrhaging WOW profits.
As you appear to have missed the factors in play (read your C&P), here is Wesfarmers which includes Coles & Bunnings (both with a 13 - 14 increase in earnings, and is almost at a lifetime high!.
I have held shares in both WES and WOW for many years, and thus have my own thoughts on their performance, not one from a SMH C&P because I find it politically to my (misinformed?) liking.

I still have shares in both WES and WOW and seriously mon. Shares are all over the place this week with the destabilisation of the Liberal party. You kind of have to ignore it if you are an investor rather than a day trader.
Your graph must be this week because they dropped $3.24 today but get real. Someone will buy them from you on Monday and reap the benefits.

Paranoia grips Liberals as self-defeating Abbott lurches from one disaster to the next
To some Liberals, Tony Abbott’s treatment of Gillian Triggs exemplifies everything self-defeating and diminishing in his leadership style.
Like many voters, they think that attempting to hound a statutory office-holder from her position is yet more evidence of a dysfunctional, gladiatorial winner-takes-all leadership style where external and internal critics are ridiculed or ostracised and “debates” are won by shutting down alternative views.

Australia's first federal human rights commissioner says both Tony Abbott and George Brandis have made a grave political error in maintaining their attack on Gillian Triggs.
The Prime Minister and his Attorney-General have criticised the credibility of Professor Triggs, the current Human Rights Commissioner, in the wake of a release of a damning report into children in detention.
Mr Abbott described the Human Rights Commission report as a "blatantly partisan, politicised exercise" and later said he had lost confidence in Professor Triggs.
Professor Brian Burdekin told AM the sustained attack was "disgraceful" and "politically stupid

Oh, Look what the virtuous Jackson and Lawler are up to these days.
Taking a leaf out of Sophie's book.
Ms Jackson first met and befriended the 83-year-old Mr Rofe in 2012, two years after he was diagnosed with dementia and urged to cease working because of his diminished mental capacity.
She is named in one of the ailing barrister’s wills drawn up last year as the beneficiary of a one-tenth share of his estate when he dies, or up to $3m.
Ms Jackson is understood to have already sought financial compensation from Mr Rofe — who has 24-hour home nursing care — by billing the administrator of his vast wealth for payment after time spent as Mr Rofe’s companion, sitting with the barrister at his Woollahra townhouse in Sydney’s eastern suburbs during 2013, and early last year.
......
Ms Jackson is known to have asked Mr Rofe two years ago for a loan of up to $60,000 to cover her children’s private school fees and other debts, promising to “pay it back quickly”.
Mr Rofe, known for his lifetime of frugality, turned down the request despite his devotion to Ms Jackson — according to insiders among his family and friends — as “the daughter he never had”.
Last June, Mr Rofe’s money was used to buy a $1.35m house for him at Wombarra, south of Sydney, that is next door to where Mr Lawler lives with Ms Jackson.
Rofe family relatives and friends claim Mr Rofe became agitated towards Mr Lawler after the sale, dislikes the property, and rarely visits it.

On the 'diary of stinking govt thread', they post about Kathy Jackson being a gold digger..
You know, the Kathy Jackson, national Secretary of Union, Labor Stalwart, use union members funds in my own pocket LOL
How that relates to the Govt is anyones guess, maybe they are hoping some of the Union/Labor stench might rub off LOL
