Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Between 2000 and 2007 (the period which includes the introduction of the โ€œPacific Solution" for asylum seekers travelling by boat under the Coalition government), the database documents 746 reported deaths of asylum seekers. Of those, 363 asylum seekers died at sea while on their way to Australia. As well, 350 were presumed dead (their status is missing at sea with status yunknown); 22 died in detention (the majority of those cases were suicide, but there were some deaths of natural causes); and 11 people were returned to Afghanistan and reportedly murdered for being โ€œAustralian spies"
Between 2008 and July 2013 (under Labor), 877 asylum seekers have reportedly died. Of those, 15 committed suicide or died of natural causes in detention centres. So during this period, approximately 862 individuals died trying to reach Australia's mainland to seek asylum.
During the 2000-2007 period of Coalition government, 363 died, with the status of additional 350 individuals unknown.

Mr Moriatis didn't know if the notes he says he wrote and lost were in a note book, on a few pages, or on a piece of paper.

Didn't see it but LOL at Miriam Gargolyes comment.

Big deal about the following, applies to a lot of people.

Prime ministerial colleague and supporter Josh Frydenberg, who wisely noted that "I'm in a minority here", waxed lyrical about his boss' decency and qualities as a father, husband and upstanding member of his local community.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Gleee her 2013 snap shot report is also on-line. I guess the best way to research is by looking directly at the HRC site. I had read that SMH article MM12 posted an exert from last week but I didn't notice the word  ALLEGED in that article when I first read it. So much has been written about it, sometimes it's hard to distingish between the facts and the fiction
