As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.![]()
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Finance Department officials say they have created 980 pages of documents in the past year explaining why refurbishment works at The Lodge are a year behind schedule.
Work on Prime Minister Tony Abbott's official Canberra residence was originally expected to take eight months and be completed by mid-2014, but Finance officials have pushed back the completion date at least three times.
The house will now not be ready until mid-2015 – at the earliest.
Responding to a freedom of information request, the department originally sought $67,825 in administration fees to release information related to the $6.4 million project.

"the reader comments underneath the article are an interesting read too Bella."
A little like here with the MYOPS. I thought these comments also interesting:
"We have a fiscal problem and no matter which way you look at it it needs to be fixed but the looney left rant and rave to protect their benefits and freebies."
"I think Abbott has now got the message. Given Australians addiction to debt and welfare and with over 50% of voters on some form of government hand out a "Bold Budget" will ensure the demise of the government "Bold or Silly" enough to deliver it."
"If the Abbott govt had not talked down the economy the way they did last year, perhaps people would be feeling safe enough to spend money'
I actually manage my finances according to how I perceive our economy, not as a result of the utterances of a political party. So in effect my "parliament" is the ASX and the governing power is the "business party" (XAO)
