As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.![]()
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

You think they could do better than that for a 'posed' fake photo. The new photographer the PM hired?

Uh oh :-!
Mr Morrison was supposed to be defending Treasurer Joe Hockey but managed to compare him to rugby league player Greg Bird.
"He's our Greg Bird. I'll be the prop, forward talking [the budget] up, and he can be the one who will score the try and that's what he'll be doing on budget day," Mr Morrison said.
Bird is currently suspended from playing for eight games after a nasty incident in a recent game.

Currently suspended with an angry mob calling for him to be permanently banned because he's a repeat offender.

Earlier, Assistant Education Minister Simon Birmingham slipped up when he told Sky News that Mr Hockey would deliver a budget 'that continues to show a steady trajectory back towards deficit'.

Labor assistant treasury spokesman Andrew Leigh claimed Mr Hockey was “missing in action”.
“Joe Hockey is a bit like the star of Weekend At Bernie’s — just being propped up by Tony Abbott and Scott Morrison, unable to go out there and sell his budget,” Dr Leigh said, referring to the 1980s film in which a dead body is propped up to create the illusion it is still alive.
“Can anyone really imagine that Paul Keating, Peter Costello or Wayne Swan would have been sidelined in the way that Joe Hockey has throughout this budget process?
“Australians gain confidence from a Treasurer who clearly understands the economy and is able to convey that Budget message. But at the moment, many of them are shaking their heads.”

A3: "“Australians gain confidence from a Treasurer who clearly understands the economy and is able to convey that Budget message. But at the moment, many of them are shaking their heads.”
Deja vu indeed.
All together now in that stuck in the groove Swan song chorus that was so often aired in the days of the Circus, even had the occasional solo from Poor Me:
to be sung as A da capo aria:
I promise you a surplus garden, I promise you a surplus garden, I promise you a surplus garden.
Deja vu

Less than six months ago, Abbott was still out spruiking his "signature" PPL plan. This would have provided women with six months of leave at their replacement wage - up to a cap - plus superannuation.
It was the "fair dinkum" policy that Abbott said he "passionately" believed in. As Abbott argued, giving women this level of support was not a welfare measure. It was a "workplace entitlement," just like other non-negotiabales, like holiday pay and sick pay.
