Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I am writing this slowly A3  " I would expect also you A3"  "expect" does not mean you have!.

And what quote did I specifically reply to? Please enlighten me. Read the opening post of that thread. What is it based on - the link provided

you have stated that :  I note you were quite happy to reply to a quote from an unreliable source

"Didn't make a squeak about the link to one in the other thread." Why would I? I was only responding to Ladybug.

Forget the obfuscation A3, produce the reply and the quote responsible, it should be easy, just a C&P, and maybe a teeny bit of real comment.

Definitive statements based upon fact are simple to authenticate, so do it, without the waffle.

Netflix steals Foxtel's throne but Aussies still sneaking into US service

US streaming giant Netflix has overtaken Foxtel as the video subscription service of choice for Australian consumers, but its local arrival has done little to curb Australians from continuing to sneak into its larger US catalogue.

New research from Australian budgeting app Pocketbook shows Netflix, which launched in Australia on March 24, has already notched up 39 per cent of the paid video subscription market, with Foxtel losing 10 per cent of its share to 38 per cent in the wake of Netflix's arrival. However, the overall market appears to be growing, meaning Foxtel didn't necessarily lose that many customers.

Murdoch will not be happy about this as his print revenue is already on the slide,, though his real estate site does quite well here

He will be happy though that our govt is slapping a GST on them

Abbott government spends $100,000 on travel to lobby against UNESCO reef listing

The Abbott government has spent $100,000 on travel costs to send environment department officials to lobby other countries not to list the Great Barrier Reef as in danger.

The figure was revealed in a Senate estimates hearing on Monday after questions from the Greens.

The government has mounted a massive international effort to avoid UNESCO's world heritage committee listing the reef as officially in danger next month.

That has included establishing a dedicated taskforce within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and travelling to each of the 21 countries on the committee.

Yeah, so false accusations/assumptions/expectactions to include me in the 'expect'. Totally unnecessary and irrelevant.

Read the opening post to that thread. The opening post details the topic for discussion, including quotes and links.

A link to one of those terrible 'independent newspapers' which the thread is based on.

The extra cost for GST from  .89c to $1.50 a month, wont drive the Netflix subscribers to Murdoch's overpriced Foxtel service.

The US service offers more choice than the Aust one, no surprise that Aust still subscribing to that (via geo-blockers).

About time Murdoch had some real competition.

What a waster of taxpayers money and a cruisy job for some.
