Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Foot-in-mouth Joe strikes again

Joe Hockey canned for saying youths in Launceston mall were on ice

Federal Treasurer Joe Hockey in Launceston last week

TREASURER Joe Hockey has been criticised for telling a Sydney shock jock he saw young people “off their dial” on ice in the Launceston mall.

State Labor health spokesperson Rebecca White said ice was causing significant health and social problems in Tasmanian and needed to be addressed seriously by the Tasmanian and Federal governments.

“The Treasurer probably thought he could make the disparaging comment without anyone in Tasmania hearing it,’’ Ms White said.

Federal Liberal member for Bass Andrew Nikolic said he was with Mr Hockey all day and he was unaware of any comments from him regarding the young people in the mall but they had held general discussions about the ice problem.

“He certainly didn’t say it when he was with me,’’ Mr Nikolic said.

thank goodness for that, it's been so.low since the 2014 budget. I hope it's sustainable

wow, check out the graph in that link  Woman Surprised

http://www.businessinsider.com.au/anz-consumer-confidence-is-at-a-six-month-high-after-joe-hockeys-2...

ANZ chief economist Warren Hogan believes the increase, if sustained, would be consistent with stronger retail spending and economic growth over the second half of the year.

While Hogan is cautious on the sustainability of the bounce – it’s definitely warranted given the skittish nature of sentiment seen in recent years – if maintained it’s a great sign for the domestic economy in the months ahead.

Recent rate cuts from the RBA have seen asset prices increase, boosting household wealth, while unemployment, still at elevated levels, appears to to be stabilising, having crept higher in recent years.

South Australia is “most difficult government”, says Joe Hockey

Treasurer Joe Hockey has lashed South Australia as the “most difficult government” in the federation, accusing Premier Jay Weatherill of “playing politics all the time” rather than cooperating on infrastructure.

The South Australian Premier fired back at Mr Hockey on Twitter, accusing Mr Hockey of concocting the excuse to explain why the government had not funded state infrastructure in last week’s budget.

...State Treasurer  Mr Koutsantonis, who claimed he delivered a version of the proposal to the commonwealth in December, told The Advertiser: “If they were serious about doing it within a decade, there should have been about $100 million this year so that we could start purchasing and acquiring the corridor.

I hope you looked at that graph, it very clearly shows how abbott/hockey destroyed the economy and consumer confidence after last year's budget, it's good that things are looking up atm and I do hope the bounce is sustainable

"Got any comments on the 'current Govt - hint.. Hockey, Abbott, Morrison, Bishop.?"

Gosh that would make another cathartic thread, Re: Diary of our current Govt,  ripe for C&Ps  sans original comments, in fact very similar to this thread:  Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Would there be a proscribed history period, in this possible thread,  that would ensure any references to the Circus with its Caucus Clowns and the Poor Me and Rudd knife act were disallowed?

Would any reference to Harvey Shorten be entertained?, not that he would actually,  when  unearthed,  be likely to have an adjective like entertaining appended.
