As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Treasurer Joe Hockey's neighbour hits back at claims about 'spurious' purchase
Multimillionaire businessman Sam Guo has hit back at claims by his neighbour Treasurer Joe Hockey that approval for him to buy his Hunters Hill waterfront estate was based on "spurious" grounds.
Mr Guo, who is known to his neighbours as the "Chinese Gatsby" for his lavish parties, was in China this week on business when he read about Mr Hockey dobbing him in for a suspected breach of the foreign investment rules.
Mr Hockey was informed that the housing stock in question was simply a granny flat on the property, saying in a radio interview on radio 3AW: "I referred one of my own neighbours and found out they had got approval on pretty spurious grounds."
But Ms Liu said work on the already DA-approved plans for a second residence on the property is set to start in a matter of weeks.

Seems to be a lot of it about.
For today's round of the ever popular "Pick the Liar", the finalists and their respective replies are:
Julie Bishop....."No"
Peter Dutton...."No"
Tony Abbott....."By hook or by crook"
It's a tough call, particularly if we allow "operational" lies to pass for the truth. We should also note that the people smugglers were paid off (allegedly) in crisp green bundles of American currency so, hey, it doesn't really count if ain't done with dinkum Aussie dollars, does it?

On the face of it, Hockey's advice to first home buyers looking to get into housing market was self-evidently correct, as some of his defenders in the party pointed out.
It was not as bad as his "poor people don't drive cars" comment, for example, but it was marked as another in a string of missteps.
What exactly did the Treasurer say to kick off another round of debate about his performance?
The starting point for a first home buyer is to get a good job that pays good money. If you've got a good job and it pays good money and you have security in relation to that job, then you can go to the bank and you can borrow money and that's readily affordable."
It was a slap in the face for people with good jobs โ nurses, teachers, police officers โ who are increasingly priced out of the market.
Pouring fuel on the fire, Hockey added that housing was still affordable because if it wasn't, "no one would be buying it".
