As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I half heard a discussion on this this morning, and the view of the ? union person was that it will bring down wages and push up unemployment.

It is a funny moment , Deb.
But isn't it typical of Abbott to respond with "Labor always laughs when it's embarrassed" . He's the one who made the gaffe. If anyone should be embarrassed, it's him.
Must be because everything is Labor's fault.

haha Cros.. he didn't even notice what he'd said
I don't know if you watched them today but just before QT they had a division and the numbers were overstated. there were only 74 minsters present but they counted 78. the speaker said the count would have to down as recorded and the discrepency would be investigated at a later date ( they had counted absent LNP members in the vote)
they conducted another vote but called in the full front bench- the total was still one less than the original count

"He's the one who made the gaffe. If anyone should be embarrassed, it's him."
Gosh, now it is gaffes or a slip of the tongue that are exciting people, that is world shattering,
I think the Libs will have to work very very hard to surpass this extraordinary past statement (howler) from Harvey Shorten when commenting about a statement from Poor Me, (sorry about the forbidden history) said:
โI havenโt seen what she said, but let me say I support what it is that sheโs said,โ
Perhaps that is why they (very wisely) keep him on lay-by.
Talking about gaffes:
"I don't know if you watched them today but just before QT they had a division and the numbers were overstated. there were only 74 minsters present but they counted 78" 74 ministers??
At the last Coalition minister count it was : cabinet ministers 19, outer ministers 11, total score 30 ministers. Even if one wrongly acknowledges those lurking in the "shadows"the figures are incorrect,
Gaffe indeed! (and repeated) !

Former national security law watchdog Bret Walker, SC, has launched a blistering attack on the government's "absurd" handling of the citizenship debate and demanded Prime Minister Tony Abbott apologise to him.
A clearly angry Mr Walker launched his assault after Mr Abbott told Parliament that the former watchdog had "changed his mind" in insisting dual nationals not be stripped of their Australian citizenship without a criminal trial and conviction.
abbott is still demanding to know Shorten's position on this bill, though still no-one has seen it
