As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

the Courier Mail has a published a pretty sick front page about the ABC today
hope the communications minister does something about it

Just saw a link to it and other state pages headlines. A new low for Murdoch. Talk about inciting hatred and yet nothing will be done while the PM is on his current hate crusade. What is the difference between these front pages and hate speech when it comes from someone not in favour with the LNP? The guy's comments have been totally distorted but we can't let truth get in the way of selling newspapers or the PM's flag waving. It is truly scary stuff the way this is all going.

I just had a look at this. Incredible. I am ashamed of Queensland readers if they buy this appalling newspaper.

Labor has demanded Tony Abbott explain how his "finely honed instincts for national security" did not tell him that maps showing terrorist recruitment hot spots were not meant for broadcast.
The Prime Minister is facing criticism after the maps showing suburbs in Melbourne and Sydney where foreign fighters have come from were filmed at a press conference at ASIO's Canberra headquarters on Wednesday.
ASIO should not be used as a prop for a Liberal photo opportunity
The maps were shown on a table while ASIO chief Duncan Lewis gave Mr Abbott a security update on Syria and Iraq
good idea to show what suburbs are terrorist 'hot spots'??

Victorian Liberal Party uses terror threat to raise funds for Tony Abbott
The threat of terrorism is being used by the Victorian Liberal Party to solicit political donations from its members ahead of the next federal election.
But the email to Liberal Party members - which calls for donations "to support a SAFER Australia" - has been lashed by the Prime Minister's office, which rushed to distance Tony Abbott from the fundraising email.
The email features a large picture of Mr Abbott and the quote: "Terrorists who are dual nationals will have their citizenships stripped.
It states that "Labor and the left are playing politics with our national security, weakening our borders and are a soft touch on home grown terrorists."

The email, authorised by Victorian Liberal state director Simon Frost, says with a federal election due next year donations are "critical to allow the Abbott government to continue on with the job of keeping Australia safe

You would think the Libs would learn from the ALP head office, ACTU, and use some "muscle" if they want some funds.!
"Labor leader Bill Shorten has told the ABC it is "entirely possible" construction companies paid union fees under deals struck during his tenure as a union leader."
And if that does not work, union dues from members can be used for political campaigns, or even high (and low) living by ALP luminaries !

“They’ve given this disgraceful individual a platform and in so doing I believe the national broadcaster has badly let us down,” Abbott said. “I think many millions of Australians would feel betrayed by our national broadcaster right now. I do think the ABC needs to have a long hard look at itself, and answer a question I’ve posed before: whose side are you on?
“Fair enough, we all believe in free speech, but in the end, you all have to make judgements.”
The judgement I make on this quotation is that Mr Abbott does not really believe in free speech at all as he is clearly calling for our national broadcaster to be partisan and take sides (namely, his side; the side of his government).
Shame, Tony. Shame.
This part of Mark Scott's speech last night is worth listening to.
In answer to the bordering on deranged outbursts of Abbott yesterday.
In a passionate speech which could escalate conflict between the ABC and the Abbott government, Mr Scott responded by saying the ABC's independence from government must be jealously guarded.
"At times, free speech principles mean giving platforms to those with whom we fundamentally disagree," Mr Scott said in a speech in Melbourne on Thursday night.
"Media organisations often give air time to the criminal and corrupt, to those who express views that run contrary to accepted public values.

If the answer to the next question is yes, then the answer to the above question will be yes.
Will the government be talking up terrorism and rattling the sabre in the near future?
Bump
Credlin has written to all members to advise them to update their photos with Abbott.
