Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

"if you haven't noticed the drop in the markets I suggest you go and check your shares" WHY? what exactly would that achieve, other than to make me a beginner/

Still awaiting some "CRISIS" news.

One can normally tell a "novice" where  shareholders are concerned as they react to daily market information, and unless you are trader, or you are about to sell, market variations mean little.

The China market (which exchange d9275?) is symptomatic of complete novices having borrowed and leveraged well beyond their means are now panic selling, a little like our .com  bubble some years ago.

Another indication of a lack of investment knowledge is no comprehension of trend/value/period /percentages, i.e. dismissing a 50 cents a share rise in 3 months when it represents a 25% increase in an investment.

"hope you went and checked your portfolio" Why would I?  As I have indicated a beginners reaction

"especially if you hadn't noticed a "crisis""  What CRISIS?

"sorry if you only found out about it here" "here" chuckle, how would I,  there are no experienced market investors here.

'Finally, though the decline has undoubtedly stirred jitters across markets globally, the fact that few overseas businesses are listed in China reduces the real, long-term impact of the decline beyond China's borders. Certainly Hong Kong and perhaps Japan and Singapore will suffer from the general dip in investor confidence, but with the exception of some companies listed in Hong Kong, their businesses will remain relatively unaffected by deflating equity prices in China."

In this conversation, Windsor implies that Joyce has "been given permision" to seemingly oppose this mine in order to stay onside with his constituents and soften the government's stance.

I read about BJ's FB comments, and the first thing I thought was that it was fake outrage, so that wouldn't surprise me.  Think again

Does no one bother to research at all?

July 20, 2009
Outspoken Nationals Senator Barnaby Joyce was slow to react to the issue but now he’s come down firmly on the side of the farmers: “I’m a great supporter of coal mining as our major export, but there are certain peculiar areas in Australia where the quality of the land is so exceptional that you should not be compromising that for coal.”

BJ has done well maintaining his "fake" outrage for 6 years, and Windsor has his own political misinformation  agenda which the MYOPS will quote, sans checking.

Thanks G58, but the link has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with long term opposition  to the the open cut mine.  If you check you will find it is ONLY an amendment to the EPBC Act which covers water resources for CSG and mining operations.

As for D9275, only anecdotes, unsupported, so they are of like reliability!

"there is more if you go looking"  I have a tendency to doubt,  so please a reliable reference.

"I think the world has gone mad when you apparently cannot build a house at Moore Creek because of White Box grassy woodlands but you can build a Super Mine in the middle of the Breeza Plains"

Barnaby Joyce

Entire Article Here

I can't believe the Federal Government announced approvel for this mine the day after it was announced that Mike Baird, NSW Premier had bought back the licenses for 3 CSG mines.

They just can't say no to the mining juggernauts can they?

The water trigger is about protecting the water system at risk from inappropriate coal mines.

It has always been about large coal mines in the Liverpool Plains area, as well as other areas.  Mr Windsor has voiced his concerns numerous times about the Watermark/Shehua mine and expressed his concern about any new large mines on the Plains impact on the water resource.

So produce them, because that is unrelated !

Nit pick Windsor but say not a word about the Joyce lie that people can't build at Moore Creek.

That was not the point, which was to produce some references to show Windsor has been opposing the mine for an extended period. The link was nonsense !

In a debate one is expected to support an assertion with credible proof , or one  will be "tempted" to expect nothing other than ANECDOTES.
