Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

just repeating this bit:

Labor's spokesman Gary Gray moved a resolution at the party's conference on the weekend calling for greater transparency in political donations.

Labor wants the disclosure threshold reduced from $13,000 to $1000. The ALP voluntarily discloses all donations above $1000 even though it is not obliged to do so.

Mr Gray also wants real time reporting of political donations so voters can be aware of when powerful interests donate cash to parties and the timing of policy formulation.

- political donations would be from unions and corporations

I still agree with Labor on that

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Just repeating this:

However rather than accepting $-largesse from gaming companies,  Poor Me handed out some of her own with a forked tongue promise to Wilkie to obtain his support, which she quickly reneged upon after luring Slipper into the paddock.

Indeed ,  Clubs NSW, which represents the cashed-up, pokie dominated clubs of NSW, certainly did contribute funds (to both parties), but Gillard sold her soul to Clubs NSW when she reneged upon her written agreement with Wilkie.

I still agree with Labor in this, disclosure of all political donations ( both union and corporate)

Looks like Barny had his hissy fit to the media but didn't make any submissions as Minister for Ag during the approval process.

I can't help feeling that cliches (sold her soul) and cheap insults (Poor Me) are just a tad counterproductive coming  from someone purporting to bring logic and intelligence into the argument. They don't inspire confidence in your credibility.

"Sold her soul" is indeed a cliche, but where Wilke was concerned,  sadly a fact., as was Gillard's deal with the devil-Greens

Poor Me is actually  not a "cheap insult"  but a cheap fact. I wonder if people like Merkle, Thatcher, Clinton (H), Bhutto (B) bemoaned what the "boys" said or called them?

"are just a tad counterproductive" ?? Within this somewhat  pink matriarchal thread where facts are sometimes not exactly de rigueur , chuckle.

"they don't inspire confidence in your credibility." Chuckle.   I repeat that this is a somewhat politically pink matriarchal thread, and credibility is in the pink eye of the beholder to the point that demonstrably incorrect comments attract the attention of the Kudos tag-team, as do the ubiquitous C&P,s

"a tad counterproductive"   Really, so why the post?

"hope you went and checked your portfolio

especially if you hadn't noticed a "crisis"

sorry if you only found out about it here'

I am not really  tempted to rely on definitive information herein, and  am still awaiting external information apropos the alluded to "crisis",

Anyway the XAO appears to have missed ALL the crisis:
