As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.![]()
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

"wow how terrible is this man Mr Milby trying to protect his long standing business and australain jobs... just terrible isn't it, if his business goes, all their jobs go too"
I see the situation, is sill incomprehensible , read the legislation, it is worth the bother..
Bilby was alleging that he would have to (was told?) to foreign crew, but as he is based in Aus for over 183 days/year he would still have to pay the same Aus crew rates to the foreign crew.
I guess he did not understand either !
"and no, not interested in looking up the 2012 maritime rules. Whty would i bother when I can see it's been amended in 2015?"
Really, you can see it's been amended in 2015??
When exactly was the 2012 Act amended in 2015? because if you check (?) you might notice that the ALP's 2012 Coastal Shipping Act is still in force, and there currently only exists draft legislation to amend it.
That means the proposed amendments are just that, and need to be approved by BOTH Houses to become law.
I think it would be worth the "bother"

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has called on the ABC to talk up the economy, and sidestepped questions on key economic indicators by citing the Government's record on stopping the boats.

"hope you watched that abbott 7.30 report interview, it was very revealing" Not another reference, must be a poor news day (or a safe coastal port in a storm?)
This would be the same interview that has been mentioned yet again ( Ad nauseam ?) starting last Wednesday?. However, the topic is on relatively safe ground with 3rd party distancing.

"that 7.30 report interview was memorable, no doubt it will be mentioned for a long time to come yet. "
I am sure it will be mentioned (here) for a long time (a lot). Gosh, just since Wed it has been raised 7 times, and 5 times by D9275 (yummy topic!).
It is "heartening" though to see political links, (sans analysis), remember these memorable other interviews from "7.30" that have "been mentioned here over a "long time"? :
With Poor Me.
LEIGH SALES: Well, Prime Minister, you've given me a laundry list there, so let me give you one back. When people look at what you've done, they also see a promise not to introduce a carbon tax broken, they see a promise to deliver a budget surplus this year broken, an East Timor solution for asylum seekers proposed then withdrawn, a Malaysia solution proposed and then abandoned, even as today we see a ship sink and people killed in another incident, a ban on live cattle imports imposed and then withdrawn, the disastrous appointment of Peter Slipper, the redesign of a mining tax so it now returns a fraction of what was banked on. I return to my earlier question: how do you expect the public to have any faith in what you're planning to do going forwards?
Another with Rudd
"LEIGH SALES: The first week of this campaign is clearly establishing already how important the economy is going to be. If voters and business leaders believe that past behaviour is the best predictor of future behaviour, then isn't another three years of Labor going to be signing up for policies chopping and changing, broken promises on return to surplus and instability in leadership?

why don't you post something worth comment yourself instead of deriding what i post?
and wrong again
I mentioned the interview twice myself, ( second time with accompanying video and article) otherwise in response to other posts about it- am I supposed to not respond to anyone??
great interview wasn't it ![]()
