As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Prime Minister's Department tries to hide Turnbull Government frontbencher's bid for extra perks.

"After a lengthy freedom of information (FOI) battle, the ABC can reveal (Nationals MP) Dr Gillespie argued politicians in seats like his should annually be given:

• Nearly $15,000 extra "charter allowance" for charter flights, hire cars, boat rides or taxis
• 14 days more travel allowance for overnight stays within the electorate
• An additional office
• One more full-time employee

Dr Gillespie is the member for Lyne on the New South Wales mid-north coast.

He argued the boost would help meet "the significant logistical challenges that confront all rural MPs in meeting the needs and expectations of their constituents".

Pauline Hanson fails to declare $4500 Great Barrier Reef snorkelling cruise.

"It was the One Nation snorkelling trip meant to prove that the coral bleaching of the Great Barrier Reef was nothing more than a "green lie".

Senators Pauline Hanson, Brian Burston and Malcolm Roberts chartered a commercial catamaran and a glass-bottom boat – with an entourage of at least 25 staffers and media in tow – to inspect a small patch of the reef last November.

. . . Now Fairfax Media can reveal that the cruise was actually an expensive gift that Senator Hanson failed to declare, potentially putting her in breach of parliamentary rules and at risk of being found in contempt of the Senate.

Parliamentary records show that all three One Nation politicians charged taxpayers for a return flight to Rockhampton – which was within their travel entitlements – and Senator Hanson and Mr Roberts also claimed travel allowance. But none of them used their charter entitlements to pay for the cruise.

The cruise was a gift from Freedom Fast Cats, a Yeppoon-based charter company."

a national disgrace that former soldiers are so often left to their own devices once the govt is done with them.

this isnt the first story like this but its about time it was the last.

if we are going to play war games then those doing the fighting deserve lifetime medical cover.
