Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

That is not really fair David.

Michael Keenan has been in Parliament for 15 years and commutes from WA.

When he was first elected he had no children....he now has 4.

I have a friend in country NSW whose husband is in state parliament and I know how often he is away from home...it does take a toll on family life.

I can only imagine how much time a WA member is away from home.

Maybe part of the reason he is not running again has something to do with the chances of the current government  being thrown out on their ear, but it is hardly fair to assume that is the only reason.

Anyway, how many people stay in the same job for more than 15 years these days.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Iโ€™m with lyndal on this one david.

Having Christmas with family would really reinforce the fact that a โ€˜travellingโ€™ member who also has ministerial responsibilities is really missing out on so much of their childrenโ€™s formative years.

The other consideration that he would have had would be to give the local branch of the party sufficient time to run a preselection for that seat.

Spoiler
another motivation, and this is purely speculation started by me, is the state liberals in WA are in disarray, especially as far as leadership goes . . . . . . . and maybe, just maybe, state politics is where he might pop up in three years time!
Spoiler
less travel, leadership possibility

Of course you can say it David but whether anyone will believe you is altogether another thing.

I am sure Bradman's family would take the same action as the relatives of Menzies and Lyons and deny it.
