Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I find it hard to believe I actually liked her at some time in the distant past.

Bishop performs well and is a good pollie.

Why wouldn't you like her ?

You can't be serious. She's the worst speaker, ever.

She sits in on cabinet meetings and she is completely biased in the chair.

The speaker is supposed to be neutral in their rulings.

the speaker is not supposed to sit in on party meetings... i had a conversation with Anna Burke about this... Anna told me that she was not allowed to sit in on party room meetings... she did her job properly unlike the current speaker

Not good enough.

"Prime Minister Tony Abbott has admitted that he should have known better than to pursue the GP co-payment, after the policy was finally dumped by the government today.

Mr Abbott said as a former Health Minister he should have realised the importance of wide consultation before attempting such radical reform."

BACKFLIP ALERT

Tony Abbott announces government backdown on Defence pay

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has backed down on Defence pay in spite of his previous protestations that he would not succumb to independent senator Jacqui Lambie's "blackmail" tactics on the issue.

Senator Lambie, a former soldier, had vowed to vote against all government legislation until a better pay offer was made to soldiers.

In his second attempt to appease the Defence community and Senator Lambie, who wields a crucial vote in the Senate, Mr Abbott announced on Wednesday his government had decided to increase raise Defence pay above inflation - from the proposed one and a half per cent increase to two per cent per year, beginning next pay day.

The Prime Minister said it showed his government was listening to voters. Rubbish, trying to save his own skin.

1:22pm:

Meanwhile independent senator Jacqui Lambie has responded to the government's announcement of a pay increase for ADF personnel.

Senator Lambie says the pay increase is not enough.

She cannot say whether she will now vote for government legislation until after she has consulted with her constituents.
