As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Sunday the day of rest, and thus no need to research, just C&P "interesting", and of course stuff
Oh gosh the PM is paid more than the Opposition Leader, no, really? and racks up more expenses, outrageous.
Office Additional salary (%) Salary as of July 1 2013
Prime Minister 160 $507,338
Deputy Prime Minister 105 $400,016
Treasurer 87.5 $365,868
Leader of the Opposition 85.0 $360,990
I notice Poor Me was actually not so, financially, in the past (sorry about the history) :-
Federal politicians can rack up relatively large bills in going about their day-to-day duties. In the last six months of 2012, Julia Gillard had allowances totalling A$647,000 !
And Abbott obviously made a mistake:-
May 11, 2014
Abbott freezes politicians pay and allowances for year .
I Did not notice any comments in the "interesting" C&P,s regarding this interesting feeding trough below!
"the cost of keeping two former Labor PMs is likely to cost taxpayers up to $1 million a year in pensions, travel, car and office costs.
Unable to work together in government, it has emerged the bitter Labor enemies found one thing they could agree on - some of the taxpayer-funded benefits traditionally available to ex-PMs only after they leave politics should be granted to Ms Gillard and Mr Rudd while they remained in parliament."
"Clearly, it was a cosy deal but it was the taxpayer that footed the bill,''
Perhaps the term Piggy Me would be more appropriate !
That's interesting.

I can't find a anywhere that Gillard spent $647,000 in allowances within 6 months. Would appreciate if you would post the source here as I'd really like to compare the two PM's

The use of parliamentary entitlements should be guided by "common sense", government frontbencher Malcolm Turnbull says, deviating from Prime Minister Tony Abbott's insistence that former Speaker Bronwyn Bishop was the victim of a deficient system.

One could even have another ponder of Poor Me's:
Expenditure on Entitlements paid by the
Department of Finance and Deregulation
1 July to 31 December 2012
It adds up to a "little more" !.

what?? this?? the Toowoomba Chronicle??
http://www.thechronicle.com.au/news/how-julia-and-julie-racked-1m-expenses-six-months/2048542/
In the last six months of 2012, Julia Gillard had allowances totalling A$647,000 - that's nearly three times her annual salary.
Tony Abbott recorded $530,000, Wayne Swan cost $545,000 and Julie Bishop a cool $390,000.
( remembering of course that Tony Abbott and Julie Bishop were in opposition at that time, so the then PM Gillard spent around $100,000 more than the then opposition leader abbott)
