As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.![]()
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

the so called red tape repeal day....
as usual this mob is big on hype but devoid of any real, positive plan for our future (unless of course your a tax minimising leaner or corporate welfare leaner).
from Tony Burke
The worst thing about the Government’s second so called “Red Tape Repeal Day” is not its content, but its hype. About the most interesting thing that happened this time around was the Government claiming $420,000 in regulatory savings by updating grammar in old legislation. That’s no exaggeration. $420,000 was claimed as the saving by removing commas, deleting hyphens and correcting a spelling mistake made in 1995. Ed Husic described it as “spring cleaning with a cotton bud,” I’m hopeful it will lead to a punctuation-led recovery.

isn't she the one who ran a false smear campaign with letterbox drops a few years ago?

'....I don't think it's a prank either.
The flyers were professionally printed and distributed by some pretty high ranking Libs, including a senior advisor to Helen Coonan (Minister for Communications)."

yes, that's her. When busted her hubby said it was just "fun", I posted a story about it - The LNP having fun. Talking about smear campaigns - pickersickling has been having his particular style of fun on his bog - using a photo from Greece of a poisoned dog in a "story", use the word story loosely because it is just a disgustingly sick and twisted anti Muslim rant. Is there no depth that thing won't go to in his tirade against whoever is in his sights for the day.

Abbott and Forrest’s assault on Indigenous land rights
The iconic 1976 Land Rights Act is under attack like never before under the Abbott Government, writes former Fraser Liberal Government Minister for Aboriginal AffairsIan Viner AO QC (via Northern Land Council – Northern Edition).
WITH the Commonwealth Government’s push for 99-year leases, the Forrest Review’s call forAboriginal land to be privatised so as to be bought and sold, and attacks upon the Northern Land Council in particular over their defence of traditional ownership and their responsibilities under the Land Rights Act, the iconic 1976 Land Rights Act is under threat like never before.
The whole framework and security of traditional Aboriginal land, protected by the Land Rights Act, is in danger of being subverted by Governments, bureaucracies and people who have no real understanding or sympathy for traditional communal land ownership.

Abbott factor scuppers Napthine's ambitions
The inaugural Fairfax/Ipsos poll shows the Coalition lagging Labor 56 per cent to 44 per cent in two-party preferred terms.
The polls will probably tighten, but as things stand now the Coalition is on track to become Victoria's first single-term government since 1955.
Petrol and politics don't mix, and Napthine needs help not more obstacles from his Liberal mates in Canberra.
Just days earlier Abbott decided to revive a politically fraught debate by calling for "mature debate" on federal-state funding arrangements, floating the possibility of lifting the rate of the GST.
Again, it was a political gift for Labor, which will be spending the next four weeks reminding voters at every opportunity that Napthine and Abbott belong to a political party which will be hitting hard-working families.
....After relatively muted criticism, Napthine is now furious, demanding the Prime Minister "show us the money" by giving Victoria a fairer share of the GST before he will even consider a "mature debate", and promising to "let Tony know" what he thinks of the fuel excise increase when he next speaks to him. Presumably this confrontation will occur during the campaign, which officially begins next Tuesday.
It promises to be quite a show. Abbott claims to be looking forward to campaigning in Victoria, but Napthine is now even refusing to confirm the Prime Minister will be invited to address the Liberal campaign launch next month. "I'll be opening my campaign launch," he said. "The Prime Minister is most welcome to attend if he wishes."
