As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Congratulations to the Abbott govt for causing consumer confidence to drop a whopping 6.8% since the announcement of the budget. Just what this country needs NOT

Of course not, i was laughing at the "more reliable source".
now aren't we all happy we have such a smart minister for education.
Education Minister Christopher Pyne gets in a muddle over student loans

Just had the misfortune of watching an abbott infomercial - started off about the D-Day commemmoration, but didn't take long to slip into the old mantras "open for business" "scrap the mining tax" "scrap the carbon tax" "repair the budget" and a new one (at least for me) - "analysis paralysis". All interspersed with an abundance of lip licking. Look out France, Canada and the USA. International Embarrassment coming to a country near you.
Is there no end to this man's stupidity ?
I'd post a link but you've seen it all before.

I think abbott makes bush look intelligent, (at least a little).
Tony Abbott wages a juvenile culture war on Australian literature
For someone who promised to lead an adult government, Tony Abbott is giving every indication that The Lodge is occupied by a student politician.
Whether it is the two royal commissions and other acts of political retribution dished out to the Coalition’s opponents, the appointment of assorted mates including a ‘‘freedom commissioner’’ on a salary of more than $300,000 a year without even the pretence of due process, or Abbott’s reinstatement of knight and dame honours, this is a prime minister who believes in government by trolling - like an internet user who intentionally angers someone to provoke a response.
Little wonder then that Abbott has decided to stack the non-fiction and history panel tasked with judging the Prime Minister’s $600,000 worth of literary prizes (including the prestigious Australian history gong) with venerable conservatives, including appointing Gerard Henderson as its new chairman. Not one member of the 2013 panel remains.
