Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Treasurer Joe Hockey woke last week to an unwelcome invitation from the government's most ardent supporter in the media, The Australian. Hand over to Malcolm Turnbull if you are "not hungry enough" for the job, the newspaper editorialised.

How things have changed since budget day 2014, just over six months ago.

A review of newspaper editorials from budget week reveals the nation's major papers largely failed to anticipate the strength of the backlash to the first Hockey budget.

Welfare for unemployed makes up a mere 6% of Australia's 'social security pie.

I challenge our Abbottphiles here on CS to start their own thread about the positive achievements of our current Government.

Maybe you could call it "Diary of our glorious Government" ?

Let's see if it gets to 5000 posts.

What will you say when you get past "stop the boats" ?

Not long ago I started a thread about putting your hand up if you were proud of Abbott - I think it fizzled out with no takers (fully understand your reticence to publicly support Tones, I must say).

that submarine post lacks facts as usual, cracks me up that the rabid right who bang on about Australia and how much they "love" it (usually displayed by spraying hate on others) lack all support for Australian industry and jobs and even national security - all of a sudden it's only about the money...hypocrisy at its best or worst?

Collins Class submarines are performing, despite naysayers

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/australianmade-submarines-substantially-cheape...

Australian-made submarines substantially cheaper than government suggests

http://www.smh.com.au/national/australia-should-build-and-maintain-its-own-submarine-fleet-20141027-...

Australia should build and maintain its own submarine fleet

Retired commodore Paul Greenfield has also criticised plans to buy submarines from Japan, telling the Senate: "There's no shortcut to it, it won't meet Australia's needs. The future submarine should be designed specifically for Australia and built here in Australia."

The government is deaf to these concerns and seems determined to do all it can to undermine Australia's strategically crucial submarine and shipbuilding industry. In uncertain times, the last thing we should be do is kill off our submarine industry. It undermines our defence capability and is against the national interest. Australia's future submarine fleet should be built and maintained here.

Boris

That middle article was shown to be a bit fanciful in their low estimation.

In addition, low balling to win is a well known tactic in Australian defence by contractors.

Collins class are performing, WHEN they are actually available to be at sea, not stuck in a dock getting repaired or problems fixed.

They are actually very very good at what they do, not many foriegn subs can say they have sunk US Aircraft carriers on exercise, Australia can.
