As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-04-20/disability-pensioners-may-be-reassessed-kevin-andrews/5400598
Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I thought you wanted Australia to move forward and be progressive.
That is NOT going to get you that.
The more Independents you get will only dilute the voting process and the more destabilising it will be for Australia.
Get some rich ppl in like Gina Rhinehardt and ClIve Palmer who can buy their influential ppl and campaign to impress John and Jane citizen, and hey presto!
Back to square one.
isn't it you who complains avbout the 2 party system?? I like having independants because it's stops both sides of politics being too extreme. OMG imagine if Tony really did have a mandate? *shudder*

I do also think something is going on with AP the way they've been pushing the 'collection points" I won't be buying one, prefer to keep the contractors in work and the way I see it, I pay postage for items to be delivered to my door.
the import duty I've never paid as I've not purchased anything from OS over $1000, and didn't buy anything prior to that threshold, so I can't really comment on it.

The independents we have at the moment are only stoppiing either party from making any real progress. We need a party that has Australia's national interests at heart. Not how much money we can get by letting foreign interests run our country.

but they were democratically voted in.... or doesn't that arguement relate to them... only the LNP
Clive Palmer has always had his own interests at heart and because of that tony was able to do a deal with him

But that's my point!
You get all these little independent's with all their own interests at heart bankrolled by ppl who use these little parties to further their own goals. Al Gore springs to mind.
In themselve with little power other than to disrupt and control any elected government!
Australian voters are duped into thinking they are making a difference when in fact they are just going ever faster on that hamster wheel!

and does that policy that Palmer helped abbott pass benefit all Australians???
how?? when the deal effects ordinary Australian's super funds
perhaps they should call a DD to fix the problem, people will be wiser now and clearer on what they're voting for

the LNP when in opposition also blocked bills, that's what the opposition does

Black Panther Party, original name Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, African American revolutionary party, founded in 1966 in Oakland, California, by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. The party’s original purpose was to patrol African American neighbourhoods to protect residents from acts of police brutality. The Panthers eventually developed into a Marxist revolutionary group that called for the arming of all African Americans, the exemption of African Americans from the draft and from all sanctions of so-called white America, the release of all African Americans from jail, and the payment of compensation to African Americans for centuries of exploitation by white Americans. At its peak in the late 1960s, Panther membership exceeded 2,000, and the organization operated chapters in several major American cities.

Here let me fix that for you Idlewhile:
The raised clenched fist was used by the anarchistic American Black Panthers.
