Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

The Govt needs to own up to the 457 visas where they have removed the requirement for employers to give preference to local workers.

With the free trade agreements ,for example, a Japanese company, could start up business here and employ all Japanese staff.. an Australian company can do the same , employ all workers brought here from other countries.

G58: "How much income tax do you contribute, did you say?

Wasn't that a big fat zero?

Rather hypocritical to continue making out it's the families ripping the system off when you know it's not the truth of the matter and any family support they get is temporary."

It would appear memory failure is now to be added to posts that are wrong! (deliberately?  However,  G58 please dig up the post wherein I said I contributed  "a big fat zero"

I will give you some assistance though whilst you research G58  (??) with this excerpt from a past Australian article:

But the overwhelming bulk of people in Australia pay no net tax at all. High-income earners have become a giant pinata that the majority hit for extra money to pay for whatever new social spending programs the political class proposes to stay in office.

Would I be in that no net tax group perhaps?  Oh dear I don't , or ever will, qualify  no social welfare for myself (that I am aware of).

I await my  "big fat zero"   tax comment link/copy

Other highlights included Abbott discovering the word “journey” for the first time in his life, and cramming it into his replies so often he sounded like a HSC English question circa 2008.

“We’re on a journey!"

We are on a journey, the journey to build a better Australia. It’s the only journey worth coming on! And we have to succeed, we just have to succeed for our country’s sake,” Abbott said, sounding less like a sitting Prime Minister and more like a guy who ate some mushrooms he found in the dirt at Woodford. “Every one of us are on a journey.” Right on, Tone.
