Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

It just happened to be in a UK newspaper.

Don't worry, plenty in the US would same the same thing, that he dithers when it comes to making

a decision and as such, opprtunities are lost. No wonder the military don't like him.

Most of the US media has turned on him now, at last, having "seen the light" that this socialist isn't a Messiah !

Motions — Request for more transparency in Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal

The motion put by Senator Urquhart on behalf of Senator Wong relates to the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal and asks that the public be kept more informed of details of the current negotiations. The motion draws attention to a 2013 Senate order requiring that details in this type of trade agreement be made public a minimum of 14 days before being signed, which would require a statement by 4pm 12/2/2015 in this case.

the LNP voted "NO" to transparency in the TPP deal

So spectacular has been the unravelling of the Abbott project in the first weeks of 2015 that its electoral demise is seen by voters and politicians alike as axiomatic – especially if Tony Abbott remains at the helm.

History, however, teaches us to be wary of such verities. What is undisputed though is that the Prime Minister's personal numbers are diabolical. Only a minority of his colleagues believe he can recover to win in 2016.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has accused Labor of causing a "holocaust of job" losses but has quickly withdrawn the remark after immediate outcry.

Mr Abbott was being pressed in question time about the surge in unemployment and the government's plans to potentially buy submarines from overseas, instead of commission Australian-built vessels in Adelaide.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott yesterday attacked the Australian Human Rights Commission over its report into children in immigration detention, saying "the Human Rights Commission should be ashamed of itself". No, Mr Abbott – it is you and your government that should be ashamed. By seeking to politicise the report and its findings, by seeking to demonise commission president Gillian Triggs, the government compounds its own failures and those of preceding governments. It has tried to shift attention to anyone and everyone, while accepting no responsibility, which only magnifies its own shameful behaviour

imo both political parties are at fault here.... but attacking the HR commission is not the answer

Well Debra, Trigg seems to come out with reports now but none when Labor were in power.

The fact that Graeme Richardson AND a previous HRC head have come out and made comments

about timing is pretty damning.

WHY didn't she right a report during Labor years when 2000 were being held.

And don't give me that clap trap that they were in for shorter periods. I even saw a comment that they

could do a report now the whole tempo had died down a bit.

What an absolute pathetic excuse for doing it now.

No wonder some Gov'ts couldn't GAF about HRC's, HCR's, they are so bent to the left it isn't funny !

At least with the UN HRC they can tell them to get out of the country.

What about timing?

They have had the report for months.  They chose to release it on the last day.

If things are better they could have said yes, it was bad and now it is better because we there are fewer children in detention and they will be released. There is no need to abuse the commissioner over it.  The report criticised the previous govt also.
