As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Prime Minister apologises for referring to job losses as a holocaust
It's a sensitive term, regarded as appropriate only in reference to the mass murder of Jews in World War II.
Mr Abbott's gaffe, along with news of rising unemployment, made for an angry and bitter Question Time.
Eventually comes out with this: TONY ABBOTT: Ma, ma, ma…. Madam Speaker, I, I… I shouldn't have used it, I did withdraw it, I do apologise for it.

1. Abbott's promise will be worthless in 5 years.. he won't be PM, LNP not likely to be relected.
2. That promise equates to 200 000 jobs created a year x 5. Been acknowledged they can't meet that target already. Certainly target hasn't been meet for the first year!!
3.. We are already past 1/5 through the 5 year period... do have to wait on a promise till the Year 5 and the Abbott will create 1m jobs in that year??? LOL
The Coalition's Real Solutions Plan, released in January 2013, says: "We will generate one million new jobs over the next five years and two million new jobs within a decade by growing a bigger, more productive and prosperous economy," it says.
In his campaign launch speech on August 25, 2013, Mr Abbott promised that in 10 years "there will be two million more jobs, in manufacturing as well as in agriculture, services, education and a still buoyant resources sector".

Yesterday Abbott went to an opening of a medical facility (LNP $10m funding, then Labor funding for $170m & ) Kevin Rudd was there too, plus other MP's & Margie going by the photo... Journalists/photographers from different newspapers present.
The event was the opening of new intensive care and inpatient facilities at the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse,
Abbott went on a guided tour of the facility, by himself (no other pollies), he chose one journalist to accompany him, from a favoured tabloid newspaper. The rest of the pack waited in the foyer (for nothing as it turned out)
When he finished the tour he slipped out of the hospital via a side alley, ignoring media questions.
As he hopped into the prime ministerial wheels, a passer-by materialised at the curb, shouting abuse of an extremely Anglo-Saxon variety.
Rudd, chatted with a women in a cafe (in Mandarin) patted a toddler on the head, had a selfie taken with a fan...
Why does he avoid chatting with public, and communicating with the media? Is he afraid he will say the wrong thing all the time?

So? Why should not they get the same breaks as anybody else? The difference is they do not support cutting pensions and benefit so they can get even more tax reductions. They did not vote for this government that is doing their best to destroy the fabric of our society. They do not go around blaming the country's problems on the poorest and least able to defend themselves. The prominent left leaning people I know believe that they and people on equivalent/higher income should be paying more in tax to go towards better hospitals, education, Medicare and infrastructure.

there are stocks that have trading ranges, newscorp used to be one that I traded often, it would go up or down a dollar a share in a matter of weeks.... so medibank?? i still say meh! ( sorry)
Often? OK, 1 dollar fluctuations on an average price of around $18.00 gives 5.5% per trade, less buy/sell charges each time and you are saying you "caught" each rise perfectly? OK
Medibank currently 26% in 10 weeks
D9275 the actual monetary change in a share price is unimportant , what matters is the variation of the share price as a percentage of it. Thus saying "meh!" to a 52 cents rise (26%) in 10 weeks is silly, especially when you then quote a share that you insinuate you were making around $1.00 (5.5%) for a few price increases
Lets see the newscorp NWS 1 dollar fluctuations

**Salary packaging involves an agreement between the employer and employee before the employee physically commences the employment duties to which the specific salary package relates. No signing up for salary packaging(sacrifice) at the end of the first year then!! False claim!
Salary packaging (also known as salary sacrifice) is an arrangement between you and your employer where you pay for some items or services straight from your pre-tax salary. You can salary package computers, cars, childcare and super, to name a few. This can reduce your taxable income and put more money in your pocket.
Salary packaging is usually more effective for people on mid to high incomes.
There are many reasons why salary packaging may be attractive. As mentioned above, it may provide potential tax savings to the employee, especially in the non-profit sector where additional FBT exemptions and concessions are available. This enables the employer to attract, motivate and retain good staff.
The Commissioner of Taxation accepts the use of salary packages as a legitimate means of employee remuneration, provided that the salary package arrangement is prospective rather than retrospective.
You think only 'high profile socialist students' have salary packaging? As it is legal, why target one particular group when it is available to all?
How many of them have you met?
