Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Yes, but notice they attacked her for being  fat, lesbian, woman.  They're so obviously of lesser intelligence.

Do you ever post on topic?

Medicare co-payment: Unpopular budget measure set for chopping block

The Australian

HEALTH Minister Sussan Ley is expected to announce the dumping of the government’s controversial $5 Medicare co-payment this afternoon, following a meeting of the Coalition party room in Canberra this morning.

The proposal to end bulk-billing for most patients and impose a $7 price signal was announced in the May budget, alienating the Australian Medical Association and finding little support in the Senate.

The $7 co-payment was withdrawn in December and replaced with a $5 fee for non-concessional patients.

We are not pursuing it at all,” Health Minister Sussan Ley told the joint Coalition party room, according to Sky News.

A senior Liberal MP told AAP the party room had been told the co-payment was “permanently gone”.

Ms Ley has called a news conference for 1.30pm.

Labor’s health spokeswoman Catherine King said the backflip only occurred “because Tony Abbott’s leadership has come into question and because Labor has stood up to them in the Senate”.

I am suspicious about the fee.  Every answer that has been given to reporters has included the phrase "we will protect the vulnerable".

IMO there will still be some fee (because they have to find funding somewhere), and it will not please those who do not have a health care card.

No, she didn't, but it's a waste of time arguing with a person who sticks their fingers in their ear and goes na na na nana na in preference to hearing the truth.

The fair way to go would be to increase the levy a fraction and stop pouring funds into PHI rebates.
