Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

David Koch quits government role on air, tells Fiona Nash to 'get a backbone

Sunrise co-host David Koch has resigned on live national television as chairman of the federal government's organ donation advisory council while firing an extraordinary parting shot at Assistant Health Minister Fiona Nash, telling her to "get a backbone".

A riled-up Koch claimed Ms Nash had caved in to the "tripe dished out by a whole bunch of rich lobbyists" by ordering an expensive inquiry into the nation's organ donation system, a situation he described as "an absolute disgrace".

"Fiona Nash, get a backbone. You didn't even ring me as chairman of your advisory council to get my view or even tell me an inquiry was coming," Koch told viewers on Wednesday morning

'Supposedly' being the operative word !

C&Ps without meaningful comment do not 'intelligence' demonstrate .

Neither do unflattering pictures and cartoons from either side of the political spectrum .

Leave all those for the various 'newspapers' to publish - we don't need them rebroadcast here Woman Indifferent

Amnest International barred from Nauru detention centre.

"THE head of Amnesty International claims the human rights group has been barred access from inspecting conditions at the Nauru immigration detention centre.

SECRETARY general Salil Shetty says Australian and Nauru authorities have denied access to Nauru following Amnesty's 2013 visit to the Papua New Guinea Manus Island detention centre where it documented overcrowding, ill health, and violence against the asylum seekers.

"If there is nothing to hide, why are we not allowed in?" Mr Shetty told ABC TV, ahead of his visit to Australia next week."

I don't know Joono, it's hard to believe a country like ours with such a good human rights record in the past doing things like this.

Yes, I just watched the segment. He made very valid points, from a qualified position.
