As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Gosh, now it is gaffes or a slip of the tongue that are exciting people, that is world shattering,
You obviously didn't watch question time and have no idea of the context. Before launching into criticism, it helps to have a clue.
Following Tony's slip of the tongue, the entire house roared with laughter, both sides of it. I'd count that as getting "excited", compared to the normal "Would the minister update the house on how (insert lnp policy) will (insert grandiose claim)".
Bronnie managed to keep a sour straight face. Abbott's reaction was telling.

"Most wouldn't have to explain that when discussing a division in the HOR that the vote is between cabinet ministers and shadow cabinet ministers... So your point is what exactly?"
A knowledge of parliamentary procedures e.g.
A division in the HOR is NOT between "cabinet ministers and shadow cabinet ministers" it is between those members present in the chamber when the doors are locked after the division bells have sounded for 4 minutes.
"I don't know if you watched them today but just before QT they had a division and the numbers were overstated. there were only 74 minsters present but they counted 78" 74 ministers present ??
How could 74 ministers be present? because if you add all the current ministers and shadow ministers you will arrive at a total of 61 (ALP has 1 extra in outer shadow ministry) So 74 ministers could NOT be present. as was posted.
That was my exact point!

Actually on reflection the maximum number of Ministers and lurking Shadow Ministers that could ever be present in the HOR would, by my calculations, actually be a lot less than 61, in fact around 45 (there are a number of ministers in the Senate). So the figure of "74 ministers" slugging it out in the "Reps" becomes even more ludicrous.

Acting speaker Ross Vasta is having a very poor morning. Labor is now challenging a count after one of the divisions. Burke says the official count says 78. He contends there were only 74 votes in the chamber.
The tellers, specifically the member for Shortland, Jill Hall, is objecting.
Vasta is trying to press on. He says it can be dealt with later.
Anthony Albanese says parliament cannot move on with ..
... phantom Tories on that side of the House! How will this be recorded in Hansard? Will the phantom votes be listed as Tory 1, Tory 2, Tory 3, Tory 4?
from the link I previously posted and as I watched it live

"So, your big problem is that I called them ministers instead of MP's?"
Not a problem , it was just a corollary from the earlier "gaffe" post, plus of course the "ministers" numbers did not "add-up" and then compounded:
"Most wouldn't have to explain that when discussing a division in the HOR that the vote is between cabinet ministers and shadow cabinet ministers...
Which is also wrong.
