Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

sigh..note the last para.....well stunt boy is out of the country but yes blame Labor

https://au.news.yahoo.com/vic/a/25903745/thousands-of-vic-defence-jobs-at-risk/

Thousands of Vic defence jobs at risk

Thousands of Victorian defence industry jobs are at risk if the federal government fails to place further orders for work, Premier Daniel Andrews says.

Mr Andrews says it makes no sense to send contracts offshore, to Spanish and Korean companies, to make navy vessels paid for by Australian taxpayers.

Melbourne shipbuilder BAE systems will make hundreds of workers redundant if there are no further orders from the federal government for work, he says.

"I've just been briefed, very clearly, that there will be redundancies at this site, hundreds of them, in coming months, just a few months, if there is not a decision made about the two HMAS Sirius and HMAS Success," he told reporters on Monday.

"We're facing hundreds, perhaps thousands of jobs being lost in this defence sector, particularly in the shipbuilding sector, in the next few months if there's not an order placed very, very soon."

Mr Andrews is joining the NSW and South Australian premiers to plead to the federal government to keep shipbuilding jobs in Australia.

Last June, the Abbott government decided to proceed with a limited tender for the new navy supply ships to replace the ageing HMAS Success and HMAS Sirius - but only a company from Spain and one from South Korea could bid.

Australian firms were excluded, with then Defence Minister David Johnston's claiming the construction of these large vessels was beyond the capabilities of Australian industry.

Last week, the federal government dismissed reports up to 1400 naval shipbuilding jobs would be lost in Victoria and NSW because of a lack of sustainable work.

Victoria's opposition attorney-general John Pesutto was asked whether Australian shipbuilders were capable of building the vessels.

"We are a world leader in manufacturing, we have our challenges, but we need to adopt a positive approach on this," he told reporters.

Mr Pesutto said Mr Andrews was "beating his chest" and needed to co-operate with the federal government.

"Why isn't he catching a plane to Canberra or why isn't he, at the very least, picking up the telephone and talking to the prime minister in a collaborative way," he said.

Funny the words Tim used.

W hen he left office, Howard had 0 children in detention who had arrived illegally .

Rudd and Gillard not only had the highest number of Children in detention (approx 2000 2013) but ALSO Drowned 1200 people.

I wonder what Tim said to Kevin and Julia at the time ???????????

"The best of both worlds ?" Smiley LOL

Please don't remind us of the catastrophe of the Rudd Gillard Rudd fiasco. They should have been convicted of mass murder of all those people (men, women and children) they lured to their deaths  after they dismantled  the border policy that worked.

this is something Paints was talking about a little while back regarding GST on fresh food

http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/charge-the-gst-on-fresh-food-health-and-edu...

Prime Minister Tony Abbott is facing a renewed push from within his own ranks to have the GST apply to fresh food, health and education, with one backbencher declaring it "unfinished business".

Prominent country Liberal MP Dan Tehan says the government must begin 2015 where former treasurer Peter Costello left off "by broadening the GST".

the real tax dodgers

We will probably never know their names, but one thing we do know – one in 20 of the richest people in Australia tried to evade paying their fair share of tax in recent years.

By what authority do we know this? By none other than the Australian Taxation Office.

On December 19 the ATO ended its amnesty offering a special deal to taxpayers who disclosed previously hidden offshore income and assets.

At the close, more than 5000 taxpayers owned up, either making a disclosure or saying they would in the future.

I don't watch channel 7 ever but I hear they are airing something about the abbott hiding info from the public re: Iraq, could just be the anger about being excluded from Iraq??????

from the unAustralian, the msm is starting to turn on the abbott

TONY Abbott’s office has triggered frustrations with the media by excluding a TV crew from the Prime Minister’s sudden visit to Baghdad, limiting access to his speech to Australian troops and joint statement with his Iraqi counterpart.

A camera crew sent by the major TV networks was left in Dubai when Mr Abbott flew into Iraq with his personal staff, forcing the media to rely on footage provided by the Prime Minister’s office.

The Australian was told the “unique” approach was a significant departure from previous visits to Iraq and Afghanistan, when media companies have “pooled” their resources to send a small crew with the Prime Minister.
