As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Ewwwwww, creepy..
I read this on another thread:
Political discussion on the Community Spirit board engenders hate speech, enmity, constant argument and divides the community.
There should be a dedicated Politics Board for those that like to indulge in such pastimes.
Can't agree with it myself, people not interested in politics give this thread, in particular, a wide berth, which is their right and easy to do.
6800+ posts which don't contravene posting rules proves the first sentence is not accurate.

no idea what newspaper that was Glee, it's kind of hidden
but here's an article about the Fed govt funding blackmail
VICTORIAN Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews will push for federal funding for public transport, despite previous knock-backs from the prime minister.
LABOR'S Melbourne Metro Rail tunnel plan needs federal money, but Prime Minister Tony Abbott has repeatedly said he will fund roads, not rail.

ALP backs away from its metro rail tunnel
Dec 10, 2014
Labor has admitted one of its signature transport policies - the metro rail link - will be difficult to deliver in the current economic environment.
In his first interview since becoming Treasurer last week, Tim Pallas appeared to hose down expectations for the capacity-boosting rail link, warning the high cost and a refusal by the Abbott government to fund commuter rail would make the project "difficult to put away".
"I want to be frank with people, it will challenge the government, particularly in the current economic environment," Mr Pallas told Fairfax Media. "It is a very large capital outlay [and] we have got a federal government who have no interest in making a contribution to rail."
Labor put the project firmly on its agenda in its "Project 10,000" transport blueprint released in November last year, promising to spend $300 million to begin planning the $9 billion cross-city rail tunnel, which was seen as vital to boosting the capacity of the City Loop.
Although no timeframe was put on the project, Labor said it expected to contribute $3 billion, with the remaining cost equally shared by the Commonwealth and the private sector.
On Tuesday, Mr Pallas said Labor was "not going to give up" on the rail tunnel, although he was not yet in a position to say when it might be delivered.
"I've got say the few discussions I've had with the federal government, they've been pretty adamant about this. Quite frankly it is disappointing for rational transport infrastructure delivery if the federal government distorts its investment into only one form of infrastructure such as roads."
Transport formed a key battleground for the November 29 election, with Labor pledging to dump the East West Link road project if it won and instead embark on an ambitious push to remove 50 level crossings over eight years.
Mr Pallas confirmed the western section of the East West Link was not on Labor's agenda "for this term". But he would not rule out the link, connecting the Tullamarine Freeway to the Western Ring Road, for a second term after the 2018 election. "You would never say never," Mr Pallas said.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott has repeatedly vowed to claw back $3 billion of Commonwealth money set aside for both sections of the East West Link.

Thanks, I wondered if it was the same article as that.

yes, it's not good is it? TA offered to give the Napthine Govt the money before they even had any plans drawn up for the east/west link, now they are holding Victorians to ransom for voting Labor
showing a small part of an article is deceptive, that's why I like to read a whole story in a link

It even says at the top of that newslip image posted - Treasurer [VIC] blames PM
Not an article with any relevance to the high youth unemployment rates Australia wide, under the Abbott Govt.
Except to point out Abbott won't give funds for rail, therefore proposed projects may not go ahead, therefore he is not creating jobs through infrastructure projects.

the east/west link would've been napthine's plan to create some jobs.
it seems that TA doesn't want Labor creating any
pretty vindictive imo

Ironic, isn't it, paints?

Not clever enough to be ironic but is a terrific example of pathetic and definitely hypocritical
