Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I think I mentioned late last year about a 10 million bike track that was being built here.  It was really strange, and you could tell VicRoads were trying to rush it through. They gave us very short notice about it and didn't even have any plans drawn up to show us  Woman Surprised

anyway they said they were starting in Nov, and that it would take 6 weeks.  They did come and put up some temporary fencing where the bike track was meant to be

They have not been back since the state election and we've heard no more about it.  Was discussing this with some other local residents the other day. Perhaps it's not going ahead now?? At a cost of a million dollars per km. we all thought it was a bit of a waste of money, all things considered.

The employment survey by Roy Morgan’s has captured a record high in unemployment for December:

6011-quarterly6011-under-employed

The findings are sobering, and although there is a significant gap with the official (albeit very volatile) ABS figures, the trend is self-evident:

  • 1,402,000 Australians are looking for work (10.9% of the workforce, down 9,000 since December 2013);
  • 1,246,000 Australians are under-employed (working part-time and looking for more hours – 9.7%, up 154,000 since December 2013).
  • 2,648,000 Australians are unemployed or under-employed – a new record high (20.6% of the workforce, up 145,000 since December 2013);
  • After this month’s rise the latest Roy Morgan unemployment estimate of 10.9% is now a substantial 4.6% higher than the figure currently quoted by the ABS for November 2014 (6.3%).

Gary Morgan explains the year-end seasonality and the crushing reality of a large amount of underemployment, even as employers and the Abbott Government push for easier visas for overseas workers:.............

I went to the office of one of those members yesterday, wearing my It's Time T shirt.  The person there was unfazed, and almost did a somersalt in order to assist me with my request.  She was very excited because the election had just been called.  But her boss will not get my vote.

I didn't do it on purpose, as some here might think.  When I go out, I have about ten or so places to go to, including food shopping.  That was one of them (to get info on probate and wills, just so you know, info doesn't come to me, I have to go to it).

And that Tee is on when I go out, from now until 31st inclusive.  I get interesting comments, some from Gen Ys, who haven't a clue.

Men are the best sports with their comments.

And dirty looks from old people, because old people here, especially in this electorate, will vote the newest tonguer. (Is the tongue thing compulsory for Liberal leaders?)   And I am old, and not supposed to be a stirrer.
