As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I think Abbott will be ditched close to the end of March. There is so much discontent in his party and they don't appear to want Hockey preparing the next Budget. Abbott won't sack Hockey..............

Armed personnell seen in the pic are not detention centre guards. They are border patrol personnell and appear to be assistiing detainees in leaving a boat.

I believe Ms Triggs may have tried to embellish the truth in stating she saw armed guards during her visits to the detention centre.

actually I just realised what it says on the back of that officer's shirt. They are customs officers.

She did embellish the truth to fit an Agenda of Gov't bashing AND because being an HR person she does not like

detention centres.

ESPECIALLY when it says what they are. Then again, being a lefty, she's probably blind.

Pity we didn't have a bigger island somewhere in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

protection officers inside the centre standing

at each section - so who knows what she was

Yes I do and I actually wrote that before Icy wrote her post.

And I also read Icy's earlier post.

Only that Blind Old Bat Trigg couldn't see that they were Customs people but like you,

when they have an Agenda to push, nothing gets int he way of pushing it.
