Did anyone else do Earth Hour tonight?

I kind of cheated because I was knitting but we turned off all lights in the house and outside except the ones we really needed so I suppose that's something.  We should do this every night.

Next year I will do better.

Did anyone else do Earth Hour tonight?

Do all those high rise empty office buildings with all lights on give a darn?

Didn't even realise it was Earth Hour.  Some years it get publicised and some years barely a word.

This year was barely a word.

Better luck next year.

They normally do.

But joono - I didn't even realise it was on!!! And I am normally on top of things like that. Talk about poor publicity...

Earth Hour:

an idea cooked up in a hotel room.

Earth Hour: an act that achieves nothing by people who only "seem" to care.

I try not to leave any unnecessary lights on every day of the year.

Yes I agree,  and participating in this first world joke is useless.

Do it all year round and keep quiet about it. Put your money where your mouth is,   sitting in your comfortable first world loungerooms watching your flat screen TV  whilst playing on your computers.

I'm sure you'll all do better NEXT YEAR.Smiley LOLSmiley LOLSmiley LOL

What rot.

The campaign has created an awareness where there was little before.

You can see it it in generations like my own kids who at 13 and 16 are very aware of the power they consume. Earth Hour is a yearly reminder to them (and for me) that they can't take our planet for granted.

I think it's a good idea too as it raises awareness.,     but I didn't even know it was on either.

I did see it on tv this week but I can't remember which show.  I think it was the Loungeroom with Amanda Keller.

That's exactly right Martini. We overuse electricity all year especially with long hot summers, air conditioning, the pool pump going, three tv's and computers. I even make extra payments during the billing cycle so that I don't get a huge shock when the bill comes in.

It did make me think that really I don't need to have lights on all over the house just in case, so well done to Earth Hour 🙂

Suck lemons to those that just want to pooh pooh the idea.
