This would never have happened in the days of Sir Joh (instert sarcasm here)

Awful situation for the police to be in..................... he refused to stay down, fought against them and it would be really difficult for anyone to keep him down, without being able to lean on his legs? knowing they are being watched and CCTV ?

I agree wholeheartedly with your statement (which I highlighted).
But I cannot fathom why you added the final question, which (to me) implies they would act differently if not being watched.

All I know is, I wouldn't want to strap a weapon on every day of my working life and head out into the 'God only know's what may happen' that coppers face daily.
Two of my kids are cops, and I would like to think people judge an individual for thier actions, rather than lump it all together and judge the entire profession (police force) for the actions of a few..
Imagine life without them...........
Absolutely agree, the ones in the video showed how poorly 'some' perform their duties and 'we' are paying for it. These are one of the many situations where good training and action would have fixed it with a few moves. They clearly failed at doing their job, resorting to punching showed this.

What has knowing they were being filmed and watched got to do with it? Sorry for repeating myself but a capable well trained officer (on his or her own) should have been able to nip it in the bud. Maybe they lacked experience but I would hate to think of them chasing someone with two legs.

Problem is that the general public will never see the CCTV unedited version.
It is very likely that they would act quite differently if there were no witnesses.

It is something I have noticed throughout my life....................... that if anyone is aware they are being watched or filmed, they behave better. In the case of police, they know they are going to be scrutinised closely, both during and following the event........................ there will an enquiry and they will be held to account if they have done wrong.
Do the right thing and you have no need to fear the police.

I disagree, there are many reasons why.............
The general public don't need to see the CCTV, no doubt we will be paying for a solicitor for the 2 criminals and that will be their job.

In fact, everyone should behave and act as if they are on film, all the time. Regardless, of whether it is for work or play or cohabitation. People are on "show" all the time regardless of the existence of a camera. And we are all judged by the "show" we produce and perform.

but they don't do they? not everyone.
I would be embarrassed to perform the way some do on here............ not because of what anyone else would think of me but because of what I would think of myself.

I have been victim to abusive police in central Ohio, and now am getting much of the same in southern Ohio. And as someone mentioned, theres no shortage of recorded examples of cops abusing their power, this topic showing it to be a worldwide problem.
But can we place all the fault on part of the cops themselves. Or is there a movement of governments and those governed by them?. Do the people in majority want this, I would think that if they didn't they would somehow put a stop to it.
Regina Taska was a prime example of what happends to a good cop who opposes a worse cop. Sent a message to all police that you don't pull a bully cop off of their victim under any cercumstances.
With all the double speak and spin going around and people buying it, All this cop has to say is that he beat up this disabled man for his own protection. "we are gonna protect you, even if we have to kill you" and they do just that. Kelly Thomas was protected to death, as was John T Williams. Sometimes the police have fun and use their hands, other times they don't like getting their hands dirty and use their gun.
