I was told about this for my father, I had never heard of it before and the person telling me said it is not widely known about.
But, i will mention it here, as it would be a help to pensioners, a great help
Ask at the post office for a 'application for a MyPost account (concession)' or download here
http://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/mypost-concession-account.html
Apparently you get
Five free domestic stamps a year
The rest of the year, the domestic stamps are discounted to 50 cents, to a maximum of 50 stamps
A free digital mail box
discounted mail redirection / mail hold
You need to show
pensioner concession card
Health care card
commonwealth seniors card
department of veterans affairs card
veterans repatriation health card (including repatriation pharmaceutical benefits card)
Hope this info helps

Yes, you do need to fill out the application though. No good just rocking up
to the PO.
Stamps have no denomination printed in them, but the word 'concession' appears

I knew about the redirection for mail, but not the other.
They are a bit like c/link, there are alot of different payments that they dont tell you about.
thanks for that.

I agree purple, there are many concessions but many people are not aware until they ask, and many don't like to ask.
For instance, I had no idea motor vehicle registration, telephone, and power can be charged at a discounted rate for consession card holders.

I only found out recently that my elderly Mother was entitled to 5 free visits to a Podiatrist per year through medicare. I also found out last month she is entitled to a yearly payment to help pay for incontinence pads through medicare, even though she's paying top dollar in the Nursing home she still has to buy her own pads.

5 stamps a year....... how exciting. $3.50? In Qld pension registration for your car is only $260 less than full registration. Their excuse was that they had the cheaper fuel.............. no idea what they give now since the 3 x 3 is now obsolte
