Fakkenit, was that an english oak?
Hi Pimpy
Our tree was an 80' White Oak (I'm in the US). It had been slowly deteriorating for many years and the tree guy told us it was a good thing we took it down now, as it was ready to take a tumble soon (75% rotted at base).
It was like losing an old friend, and it still makes me sad. I have a new White Oak ordered and ready to be planted as soon as we finish clearing the debris. A White Oak is one of the trees in the US that is very wildlife friendly, so our critters will be able to enjoy the new tree too.
Thank you for the thread - I love all the photos and hope to continue participating.

Agora, your latest pics are cracking me up. Beautiful photos, and really funny too. I might try to set up a shot of some sort. It looks like you are having a lot of fun.
Very inspiring.

There is only 1 Banksia that you can do that with - Banksia Grandis, took this photo at Mystery Bay when we were on holiday there, we asked the owner if we could take some cones...
